The notes on this page aim to rebase the categorization system on moepedia en.
Feel free to add rules you think are appropriate.
- All categories must be a noun phrase.
- All central nouns in category names must be plural. E.g., use "Category:Userboxes" instead of "Category:Userbox". There are exceptions to this for historical reasons, e.g., Category:Template_documentation.
- No Templates shall be included in Category:Templates. That's a root cat.
- All Templates must be included in some Template Category.
- Moepoint categories should use the correct English translation. (We need to put a list of moepoint translations in English somewhere.) For example, (literally "black stockings") should not be translated as "Black silk" (which is a word-by-word machine translation).
- Only the first letter and proper nouns (work names, country names, languages, etc.) should be capitalized (for historical reasons). There are exceptions to this rule, e.g., Category:Pages_with_Materials_Awaiting_Translation, once again, for historical reasons.
- Category Names should all be in English. While translating, make sure you know what the English counterpart of a category on a sister project is. Names like Category:引文格式1错误 are not acceptable.
- Naming disputes are adjudicated according to the aforementioned rules; the category that does not follow the rules above will be removed unless it causes much less to do it the other way around. E.g., Category:Template_documentation has a great number of entries, and it would be hard to move all of them to any other new category, so we might as well let it survive instead of move all those entries into, say, Category:Template_documentations.
