Hell's Paradise
"Hell's Paradise" (Japanese:地獄楽) is a manga created byYuji Kaku. It has spawned derivative works such as a TV anime, stage play, and novel.
Synopsis
During the Tokugawa shogunate period[1], people discovered the "Immortal Island" filled with flowers and fluttering butterflies. However, most of the investigation teams sent to the island never returned; only a few, with their unrecognizable remains mixed with flowers, drifted back to the country on small boats. To search for the legendary "elixir of immortality and eternal youth" while avoiding "unnecessary" personnel losses, the shogun gathered death row convicts from across the country and ultimately selected ten to explore the island. Each convict was accompanied by an executioner—a "Yamada Asaemon"[2]—who would kill them if they acted treacherously.
But neither the convicts nor the Asaemon knew that they would face hellish sights on the island...

Originally a member of the "Mountain Dwellers," a group living in the mountains outside the shogunate's control. Accidentally led samurai into her village, resulting in the massacre of all other Mountain Dwellers except herself, and she was sentenced to death.
