History
A mascot-like existence for the Tohoku family. As Tohoku Zunko's main weapon, Zundamon appears frequently in official works. However, because there was no speech synthesis voicebank, the appearance rate in fan creations such as Tohoku family videos and fan art was extremely low.[1]
Later, for no reason at all, she suddenly turned into a beautiful girl.[2]
On June 17, 2021, the ITA Multimodal Data Corpus was released for researchers to use. Also released at the same time wasTohoku ItakoandShikoku Metan。[3]
On August 1, 2021, along with Shikoku Metan, she became one of the first two available characters for VOICEVOX and gained a speech synthesis voicebank. Since then, Zundamon's presence and popularity have exploded.
On August 1, 2022, the download page for Zundamon's voicebank was officially released on the NEUTRINO official website.With this, the three members and one mascot (?) of the Tohoku family are all gathered in NEUTRINO.[4]
Voicebank
Released on May 21, 2017, along with the Tohoku Zunko Project anime movieZunda Horizonreleased for free upon its screening. This was Zundamon's earliest voicebank.

Released on August 1, 2021. The basic tone is a child-like, energetic, and high-pitched voice, with eight voice styles: Normal, Ama-ama, Tsun-tsun, Sexy, Sasayaki, Hisohiso, Herohero, and Namidame (initially only the first five).[5]Among them, Sasayaki is a voice style similar to whispering, and Hisohiso is a voice style similar to murmuring.
Released on August 1, 2022. While maintaining the voice characteristics of the "Normal" voicebank from the speech synthesis library, the adaptable pitch range and tempo range have been further expanded.

Released on January 13, 2023. It includes "Normal" (default), "Ama-ama" (Sweet), "Tsun-tsun" (Tsundere), and "Hiso-hiso" (Whisper) similar to VOICEVOX, as well as the unique実況(Commentary) and Aori (Teasing). This voicebank is bundled with VOICEPEAK Tohoku Zunko / VOICEPEAK Tohoku Kiritan / VOICEPEAK Tohoku Itako and is not sold separately.
Released on June 20, 2024. The voicebank is based on version 2.0, featuring a bright, cheerful, and mischievous voice.
Others
Regarding Gender
Zundamon refers to themselves as "僕", and their appearance makes it somewhat difficult to determine their gender, but the pronoun used in the official novel is "彼女", so for the time being, they are consideredBokukko[6]。
Although officially set as female, gender is free in derivative works, and it is also acceptable to set Zundamon as a femboy.(That's what the official says, but who knows what the reality is — from a certain Remix that won the Voca Colle 2022 Remix Top 1 and is essentially a vro + VOICEVOX theater Remix), and nowadays in VOICEVOX short theaters, Zundamon often appears as a chaotic male character.
Zundamon Hyperventilation Club
The tag on nico is "ずんだもん過呼吸部」。
Under this tag, most videos are by creators researching hyperventilation to better portray Zunda-gyaku. Zunda-gyaku is a type of secondary creation that gradually emerged after the release of the VOICEVOX voicebank, involving various forms of persecution and even darker "dark side" abuse. The tag on nico is "ずん虐」。
A group of people who gathered together out of an enthusiasm for researching Zunda-gyaku.
It started in the SoftwareTalk Theater video "些細なことで不穏になるずんだもんvs東北きりたんii", where Zundamon let out rapid breaths when faced with a death threat. After this video was posted, the number of people researching this type of breathing sound rose rapidly.
In "超健全ずんだもん調声解説【VOICEROID解説】", the uploader Sr90 proposed some tuning directions for hyperventilation, but was not entirely successful. Later,じゅごんposted a tuning commentary video titled "ずんだもんに過呼吸させよう！【VOICEVOX解説】", and with that, the tuning method for Zundamon's hyperventilation was fully matured.
It is worth mentioning that in secondary creations, Zundamon is also mostly portrayed as being persecuted.For example,Forced to sing and beaten up by KiritanForced to eat curry udon by Kafuetc.
Zundamon Commentary
Since Zundamon is a free voicebank for VOICEVOX, many video creators like to use it as a commentary voicebank, and it has gradually developed into a culture similar toYukkuricommentary, becoming a massive culture. Zundamon commentary videos often use a tone that fits Zundamon's character setting, such as using the sentence-ending particle "～なのだ" as a verbal tic, and creators with financial resources will also includeVOICEROIDandVOICEPEAKand other characters for RP.
