Q: From what age did you start using rice ball fillings instead of normal language, and what was the catalyst?
A: Since I can remember. It's probably like being bilingual.
Q: Origin of the name?
A: From the concept of "words being sharp."
Q: Do you always carry throat medicine with you?
A: Having learned the lesson from Volume 0, I now carry spares with me.
Q: Was there any particular focus when designing Inumaki?
A: In order not toItadoriclash hairstyles, the hairstyle was changed. Because of this, there are slightly more "pretty boy" elements... Hiramatsu-san, who is in charge of the animation, grasped these requirements very well.
Q: How do the members of the Inumaki family communicate as Cursed Speech users?
A: With their hearts.
Q: What is the reason for always covering his mouth with a collar?
A: To lower the volume.
Q: Is the Inumaki family the only Cursed Speech users left?
A: Yes. The Inumaki family is considered outcasts in the jujutsu world, and they follow a policy of ending their lineage of sorcerers. However, children like Toge who possess Cursed Speech are occasionally born.
History
Main Story
Early stage
As a child, he accidentally hurt others because he couldn't control his Cursed Speech, so he only communicates using rice ball ingredients.
Prequel
andYuta OkkotsuWent on a mission together and encountered an unexpectedSuguru Getointentionally releasedSemi-Grade 1 Cursed Spirit, and worked with Okkotsu to exorcise it.His Cursed Speech technique was copied by Okkotsu.
During the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, he and Panda were teleported back to Jujutsu High by Satoru Gojo to support Maki. He was heavily injured after being defeated by Suguru Geto, but was rescued by Okkotsu and treated with the Reverse Cursed Technique.
Kyoto Sister-School Goodwill Event
Before the Goodwill Event began, atAoi Todobeating upMegumi Fushiguroused Cursed Speech to freeze Todo.
Due to Inumaki's presence, everyone on the Kyoto side had to maintain a defense against Cursed Speech (protecting their ears and brains with cursed energy), which affected their combat effectiveness.
During the Goodwill Event, using thePandaobtained fromUltimate Mechamaru's phone to callKasumi Miwa, used Cursed Speech to force Miwa to sleep. Subsequently, he encounteredHanamithe "Non-human Speech Duo", was no match for Hanami and fled, encountering Megumi Fushiguro andNoritoshi Kamoand used Cursed Speech to force the two to flee together.
Because Hanami was too strong, the Cursed Speech Inumaki used on Hanami backfired, resulting in serious injuries, and he was saved by the reinforcementsMaki Zen'inwho rescued him.
Shibuya Incident
Supporting the one acting alone,Yuji Itadorihe used Cursed Speech to control the chaotic crowd, allowing Itadori to enter the lower levels of Shibuya Station. Shortly after, he was caught in Sukuna's Domain Expansion "Malevolent Shrine" and lost his left arm, which became the excuse for the higher-ups to order Okkotsu to hunt down and execute Itadori.
Culling Game
Inumaki's lost left arm was later eaten by Rika as a prerequisite for Okkotsu to copy and activate Cursed Speech.
Witnessed the process of Angel unsealing Satoru Gojo's "Prison Realm - Back" along with everyone from Jujutsu High, and carried a megaphone as a backup.
Before the Shinjuku Showdown, he went to the Headquarters with Okkotsu, gave Okkotsu a recorder containing his own Cursed Speech, and witnessed Okkotsu purging the higher-ups of the jujutsu world. During this time, they discussed countermeasures and determined the timing for when to use the Cursed Speech recorder.
Shinjuku Showdown
After Okkotsu possessed Gojo's remains and entered the battlefield, falling into a disadvantage during the duel with Sukuna, Okkotsu used "Blue" to pull a recorder to Sukuna's side, and the recorder released a Cursed Speech command infused with Inumaki's cursed energy: "Don't move!".
The Cursed Speech successfully froze Sukuna, giving Okkotsu time to complete the incantation and fire Hollow Purple at Sukuna. (To be completed)
Abilities
Cursed Technique
Cursed Speech Technique
This technique uses the hereditary cursed seals of the Inumaki clan (which are no ordinary seals) as a medium. It is a technique that can amplify Kotodama (linguistic cursed energy) or generate a force of compulsion (e.g., "Don't move," "Explode," "Get crushed," "Go away," "Die," etc.). Naturally, the greater the power, the greater the side effects and damage to the throat, so Inumaki often keeps throat medicine on hand. Because the cursed seals are located on Inumaki's mouth and tongue, he cannot speak normally and instead uses rice ball fillings as substitute vocabulary.
The disadvantage is that if the opponent uses cursed energy to block their ears or protect their brain beforehand, the Cursed Speech will not be effective; if the opponent is particularly powerful, nearly at the Special Grade level, the user will suffer a backlash because their strong cursed energy blocks it, resulting in even greater damage to the throat (a typical example is when he suffered a backlash from Hanami's powerful cursed energy, leading to severe throat bleeding).
Cursed Speech Technique
In "Jujutsu Kaisen ≡", there is a descendant of Usami who is suspected of having Inumaki clan bloodKoh Usami, whose Inumaki clan hereditary cursed seals are engraved on the back of his hand, allowing him to speak normally unlike Toge; he only needs to cover his mouth with his hand for his spoken words to turn into Cursed Speech.
Popularity
In the results of the first official popularity poll, he ranked 4th with 12,088 votes.
Inumaki Language Translation
Salmon (Shake): Indicates affirmation, "Yes," and is sometimes meaningless.
Bonito Flakes (Katsuobushi): Indicates negation or refusal.
Tuna Mayo: Inumaki's favorite filling, used when there is something important that needs others' attention. There are also cases where "Tuna" and "Mayo" are used separately, the meaning of which is currently uncertain.
T-tuna M-mayo: Hoarse.
Salmon: Expresses comfort, used to tell others "I'm fine" or to ask "Are you okay?".
Mentaiko: Expresses a sense of crisis, meaning "It's dangerous!".
Takana: Also expresses "It's dangerous," the difference being that "Takana" is used more to alert others.
Kelp: Means "Hello," and seems to have other meanings as well, which are currently uncertain.
Appeared in the prequel "Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School" (4 chapters total).
In the prequel, his hairstyle was similar to Yuji Itadori's, but according to the author Gege Akutami, he later changed Inumaki's hairstyle because it clashed with Yuji's.And Gege Akutami even changed it twice.
Gege Akutami: Even though Inumaki hasn't had much character development, he is very popular, and I find it hard to come to terms with such high popularity.
Notes
↑In the manga color illustrations, his hair is flaxen.
