Project Moonis a South Korean video game company founded in 2016.
Project Moon's works include video games such as "Lobotomy Corporation》、《Library of Ruina》、《Limbus Company" as well as other comics and novels.
Their works revolve around the core world-view of "The City," depicting stories of various characters occurring throughout the City. The main thread running through their works is the act of "Lobotomy Corporation" launching the Seed of Light in an attempt to change the City. Notably, before the conclusion of Lobotomy Corporation, the company logo was black and white; after Lobotomy Corporation concluded—that is, after the Seed of Light was successfully launched in the world-view—the logo changed to gold.
Project Moon was officially founded in 2016, starting as a student game club at Ajou University. Around 2014, Ji-hoon Kim and other founders began developing "Lobotomy Corporation." The game was inspired by "SCP Foundation", "The Cabin in the Woods," "Warehouse 13," and many other works, while the design of "Abnormalities" draws extensive reference from folklore, fairy tales, popular culture, and many other fields.[1]。
Subsequently, Project Moon's crowdfunding campaign on the platform Tumblbug was a great success. The members saw the players' love and demand for the game, and Project Moon officially released "Lobotomy Corporation" on November 18, 2016. In the early stages of development, only 4 developers were involved, and by the time of completion, the number of members had increased to 9.[2]。
On August 1, 2020, Project Moon opened HamHamPangPang (HamHam pangpang), a themed cafe operated based on the City world-view.
In 2021, Project Moon officially released "Library of Ruina," by which time the team had expanded to 20 people, including 4 illustrators. The development of Library of Ruina was influenced bySlay the Spire, and was also inspired by tabletop role-playing games created by the main creative team during their student days.
In November 2021, the promotion for Limbus Company was released. In February 2023, the game officially launched.

Kim Ji-hoon is the founder and CEO of Project Moon. He uses an avatar for livestreams, though players are also very familiar with his real appearance.
In 2025, invited by Gcores Core to participate in related events to share Project Moon's development journey.
Due to the scarcity of art staff in the early days of Project Moon, the Lead Artist had a heavy workload, leaving colleagues with the impression of "longing to finish work quickly and go home."[3]I want to go home
In the August 2024 livestream, Ji-hoon Kim stated that due to the current small team size, it is difficult to simultaneously develop Limbus Company and another new game, but if the team expands or collaborates with a large developer, this could still be possible.
As early as 2020, Project Moon had planned a management game codenamed "Lobotomy Corporation 2" (LC2). Although the development progress of this game is currently uncertain, it was revealed that its core gameplay will be most similar to Lobotomy Corporation, with content revolving around the management of a certain district in "the City".
In July 2021, Project Moon announced plans to adapt the story of The Distortion Detective into a video game, which would likely start after the development of Limbus Company is completed. As of late 2025, the game's structure seems to have been adjusted: the design, which originally revolved only around the single story of The Distortion Detective, will be changed to make The Distortion Detective one chapter within a large episodic narrative game.
On November 22, 2024, during Project Moon's 8th-anniversary livestream, Ji-hoon Kim announced an adjustment to Limbus Company's monetization model to raise funds for the company's other projects. The additional revenue will be used for the overall optimization of Limbus Company itself and potentially for starting the development of a new game. Besides game-related projects, Project Moon's future plans also mention releasing animated advertisements, promotional videos, short series, and even producing feature-length films.
In August 2025, Ji-hoon Kim mentioned in a livestream that he hopes Project Moon's next project will be a 3D action game. He stated that this envisioned project would require a team of about 150 people—approximately 100 more than Project Moon's current staff count at the time of the livestream. The game will adopt a "live service" model, adding new chapters to the story through major updates, with each chapter focusing on different characters in different districts of "the City". One of the proposed chapters will be inspired by the plot of The Distortion Detective, a plan that will replace the previously announced plan to adapt the web novel into a standalone complete game. Ji-hoon Kim emphasized that this 3D action game is his "dream project," and developing a game of this scale would require significant adjustments to the company, but he still expressed hope to one day lead Project Moon in completing this ambitious project.
Project Moon has a series of manga and novel works based on the same worldview, as shown in the table below.

HamHamPangPang is a theme cafe operated by Project Moon. In August 2020, during its first month of opening, it only sold toast; since then, the theme has changed periodically, and game-related events will be held in the future. Additionally, all music in the cafe consists of music or background tracks from the company's games.
