Yixuan and Ju Fufu go up the mountain to pay respects to her sister Yijiang, and she falls into a memory.
Many years ago, Yixuan and her sister were wandering in the Outer Rim. They were caught red-handed stealing char siu bao. When Yixuan was caught by the shopkeeper, Yijiang flew in and kicked the shopkeeper down, escaping with Yixuan.At this time, the Sect Master of Mount Yunkui stood in the distance, saw Yijiang's skills, and realized both of them had talent.. When they were cornered by the bun shop owner, the old Sect Master of Mount Yunkui appeared and adopted the two sisters. Thus, the sisters began their long life of cultivation. During their time on Mount Yunkui, Yixuan often went hungry because she couldn't compete with the other children for food during distribution, but her sister would always share her own food with Yixuan. It was only because of her sister that Yixuan didn't starve. Time flew by, and both sisters were considered talented by their master. They also had a clear goal: to become the best in the sect and inherit the Qingming Sword. This way, they could gain stronger power to protect more people.
However, with the Fall of the Old Capital, the disciples of Mount Yunkui went down the mountain to fight Ethereals, but suffered repeated defeats. By this time, Yijiang had become the next Sect Master and inherited the Qingming Sword from her dying master. However, the Qingming Sword had a fatal flaw: as the number of times its power was used increased, it would strip the user of their five senses and memories, turning them into a shell of their former self, just like their master. Yixuan swore to her sister that she would work hard and research a way to overcome the dangers of the Qingming Sword, and urged her sister never to use it. From then on, Yixuan began to study the "Qingming Bird" technique. But when Yixuan was cornered by Ethereals, Yijiang still used the power of the Qingming Sword. One day, Yijiang was finally injured by the sword's power, and her five senses were greatly diminished. Yixuan asked if she was afraid, and Yijiang said she was terrified, but Yixuan was still by her side, and she would protect Yixuan until Yixuan found a way to use the sword correctly.
Finally, in Hollow Zero, when facing a large-scale Ethereal attack, Yijiang fully unleashed the power of the Qingming Sword to wipe them all out. However, she suffered a severe corruption reaction, and in a flash of white light, her five senses and memories were completely lost.As her memories vanished and flowed away as text, her sister's name could be seen: "I am Yijiang.", Yixuan arrived at the scene and saw her sister. But by then, Yijiang had lost all her memories and blankly asked Yixuan who she was. Finally, Yijiang was consumed by the massive energy generated by the Qingming Sword and disappeared into the white light. Yi Xuan personally visited Random Play to pick up Phaethon and bring them to Suibian Temple, the Yunhui Mountain base at Chenghui Terrace. He invited them to assist in investigating the anomalies within the Lemnian Hollow as registered disciples of Yunhui Mountain and taught them Arts to stimulate their inner potential. At the same time, Yi Xuan also brought the items he had previously retrieved—the custom-made Yunhui Mountain uniforms[3]for the siblings. For safety reasons, Yi Xuan only took one of the Phaethon siblings this time[4]to head to Chenghui Terrace first. While they were traveling by airship, the vessel was attacked by unidentified individuals with rocket launchers and crashed. After Yi Xuan introduced Phaethon to the senior disciples of Yunhui Mountain and Suibian Temple, Damian Blackwood, the head of Lumina-Meck—a TOPS subsidiary that monopolizes mining development at Chenghui Terrace—personally visited Yunhui Mountain. Yi Xuan admitted that he had been commissioned by the Mayor to investigate the anomalies in the Lemnian Hollow. Damian demanded that Yunhui Mountain stay out of the Lumina Ceramic mining areas. Ju Fufu countered Damian by mentioning recent safety accidents in the Hollow. Damian claimed that compensation had already been provided to those affected and arrogantly demanded that Yunhui Mountain not interfere too deeply in the Lumina Ceramic industry before leaving. Learning that erosion incidents had occurred in Lumina-Meck's mining areas and that many miners had suffered as a result, Yi Xuan and the others decided to use this as a starting point for their investigation and sent Shi Yuan to bring the other Phaethon sibling to assist.
Phaethon found a miner willing to assist Yunhui Mountain and learned that Lumina-Meck was suspected of providing low-quality corrosion-inhibiting agents to the miners, who were planning to protest for compensation. With the miner's help, Yi Xuan and the others were able to enter the Lumina Ceramic production area to gather evidence. Before entering the Hollow, Yi Xuan taught Phaethon some genuine Arts. In the production area, they met Dr. Lore, a folk doctor helping the miners by producing and providing a cheaper corrosion-inhibiting agent called "Jieyou Water." Damian visited Yunhui Mountain again, his tone significantly more humble. He claimed that the evidence they found was actually unrelated to the recent safety accidents, that he was already processing the miners' claims, and that he was being slandered by Dr. Lore. He stated that Dr. Lore had no medical license and that the price of "Jieyou Water" was far below normal standards, which made Yi Xuan and the others suspicious of Lore. Through interviews with miners who had used "Jieyou Water," they learned that everyone who used it experienced warm memories in their dreams. Yi Xuan keenly sensed that this was very similar to the symptoms of Miasma erosion. They immediately set out to find Dr. Lore and encountered miners who had over-eroded and turned into Ethereals due to "Jieyou Water." Dr. Lore admitted he was a member of the Laudation Society and used "Jieyou Water" to provide the society with eroded victims as sacrifices. He fled after releasing a large number of miners who had turned into Ethereals. To protect Phaethon from an Ethereal's sneak attack, Yi Xuan was tainted by a bit of Miasma along with Phaethon, causing them to recall some past memories. Yi Xuan immediately cleared the Miasma, his expression solemn.
That night, Phaethon told Yi Xuan that they had seen their teacher, Carlos Arna, in a hallucination, and had also seen Yi Xuan talking to another heavily injured person. Yi Xuan said he had encountered people eroded by Miasma long ago and thus understood it well. He further confessed that Yunhui Mountain was forced to leave Vividia due to their failure during the Fall of the Old Capital, which led to TOPS taking control of the area. He told Phaethon that, unlike others, he could only experience his most painful memories within the Miasma, and the person he was talking to in the hallucination was the previous sect leader, Yi Jiang, who sacrificed herself during the Fall of the Old Capital. Suddenly, a large number of citizens in Chenghui Terrace began showing symptoms of Miasma erosion. To purify the city, Yi Xuan had to activate a massive formation, absorbing the city's Ether into his own body to purify it all at once. Although he saved the citizens, he was severely injured by Ether erosion. While being helped back to his room by Phaethon, Yi Xuan revealed that the previous sect leader, Yi Jiang, was his elder sister. Eleven years ago, Yi Jiang sacrificed herself, but when Yi Xuan arrived and saw her, she had lost her memory and looked at him with confusion in her final moments, asking who he was. While Yi Xuan was recovering, Phaethon and the others destroyed a Laudation Society stronghold and witnessed Dr. Lore commit suicide by absorbing Miasma. Upon returning to Suibian Temple, at Yi Xuan's request, Phaethon relayed Dr. Lore's last words: Yunhui Mountain had done its best to save the residents of Vividia during the Fall of the Old Capital, but now they lived undignified lives under TOPS's oppression and could only turn to his "Jieyou Water." Yi Xuan admitted that Yunhui Mountain shared responsibility for the current state of Vividia for failing to settle the refugees properly. He further mentioned his past with his sister and the Qingming Sword, saying he was initially resentful and confused by her broken promise and tragic end. However, after seeing that the people saved by his sister still had smiles and hope despite their hardships, Yi Xuan became determined not to let their and his sister's sacrifice be in vain. He immediately mobilized all of Yunhui Mountain to the Hollow to stop the Laudation Society's plot, just as they had saved civilians during the Fall of the Old Capital. But this time, Yi Xuan ordered his disciples to leave the Hollow if the situation turned unfavorable, leaving him to hold the rear alone.
Yi Xuan and the others evacuated the people who had been deceived by Dr. Lore into gathering in the Hollow and faced the Bishop of the Laudation Society, who had grown powerful after absorbing a large amount of Miasma.Merolac, and a great battle between the two sides was on the verge of breaking out. Merola unleashed a massive amount of Miasma to attack everyone. Yixuan channeled her power to construct a protective shield to resist it. Influenced by the Miasma, she heard Yijiang's voice and then saw her sister's memories before she disappeared, hearing her sister's true final words:

Meanwhile, the other Phaethon staying at Suibian Temple contacted Yixuan again. Yixuan had already vaguely guessed that her memories had been molded into a Miasmic Fiend. She asked if the monster Phaethon and the others saw in the Hollow looked like a woman and speculated that it was the cause of the Hollow data buoy anomalies earlier.
