Her mother has passed away, and her father is a composer. Kanade's personality was different from now; she used to be a relatively cheerful girl. Kanade has admired her father since she was a child. She could compose music using a computer by the fifth grade of elementary school, and her goal was to create songs that would make everyone who heard them feel happy, just like her father. Two years before the story began, Kanade, who was already in middle school, tried her best to take care of her father's daily life despite not being good at housework. To cheer up her father, who was always buried in work, she decided to compose a song for him just like she did when she was little. Once, when Kanade's father hit a bottleneck while creating a CM song, Kanade created a variation that earned her father's praise, and this CM song was eventually adopted. However, her father didn't seem very energetic. Two months later, Kanade's father finally overcame another creative block and composed a new song. At the same time, Kanade also finished the song she intended to give to her father, which she had composed during breaks from studying for her exams. After listening to it, Kanade's father told her, "Kanade, you must continue to make your own music from now on," only to be found collapsed in his room by Kanade the next day. The doctor diagnosed him with a state of memory confusion caused by heavy cerebral load; while there was no major physical danger, the cause was likely excessive psychogenic stress. Although some people recover after a period of rest, there are also patients who never recover, remaining in a state of memory confusion even if their daily lives are otherwise unaffected. In reality, Kanade's father had not truly escaped his creative block because he was not good at computer-based composition and his style did not fit popular trends. Only the part of the CM song that Kanade had rearranged received praise. Consequently, subsequent work requests from clients increased, but they all hoped for songs like Kanade's arrangement in the CM. After hearing the song Kanade gave him, her father realized his own issues and concluded that he could not create music that touched people's hearts in such a way. Although he would continue to compose for Kanade and for their livelihood, he gradually lost sight of his original purpose for making music. ————After reading her father's diary, Kanade concluded that she was the cause of his suffering. While in a state of collapse, she heard her mother's music box, which played a song composed by her father. Her father's music was what she and her mother loved most, yet her own music had failed to bring happiness, leading her father to become that way. Therefore, she felt she must create music that brings happiness to others—this is the reason Kanade became the person she is today. Returning to the present, during a routine composition session with Yuki, she discovered a music file named "Untitled." Upon attempting to play it, she was transported to the "SEKAI." There, she briefly met Miku and was entrusted with the request to save "that child" nearby. When Mizuki tried to play "Untitled," she and the other two were transported to the "SEKAI." In the "SEKAI," she met Ena and Mizuki in person for the first time, and they searched together for a way back to the real world. However, because of Mafuyu's previous words, she concluded that "it's far from enough; even if it reached her, it's meaningless." Miku immediately recognized that she was experiencing the same pain as Mafuyu. Miku believed that "Kanade's song is in this empty world perhaps because she shares the same feelings as Mafuyu, so only Kanade's song reached that child." "That child's true feelings are not to disappear." She was then asked to find Mafuyu. She regained her confidence in being able to save Mafuyu. After returning to the real world, she immediately went online, told Mizuki and Ena about her experience in the Sekaï, and decided to compose a song to save Yuki. For Kanade, who wants to "create songs that save others," Mafuyu, who yearns to disappear, is the person she wants to save.
Kanade can perceive Mafuyu's subtle emotional changes and will ask Mafuyu if she is feeling something because of it.
Seeing that the songs she created are slowly having an impact on Mafuyu makes her very happy.
However, on one occasion, Kanade was told by Mafuyu's mother that she wanted Kanade to stay away from Mafuyu.
But Kanade did not agree to this request, choosing instead to continue staying by Mafuyu's side.
