Since childhood, she has occasionally dreamed of climbing a jungle gym that never ends; Toru connects this to her own life, lamenting, "Life is so long."
Despite her lack of outward expression, Toru harbors a weariness of her unchanging, ordinary life and a desire to break the status quo, which became the trigger for her becoming an idol and subsequently involving the other three.
W.I.N.G. Story Summary
When Toru was a child, she met a middle school boy at a bus stop, namelyProducerthe Producer. Led by the boy, the two climbed a jungle gym in a roadside park together. Although they only exchanged a few words, the experience of reaching the top of the jungle gym—which she could never finish climbing in her dreams—and sharing the view from the top with him left a deep impression on young Toru.
Years later, the two have a fateful reunion at the same bus stop (the real-life location is Nagayama 5-chome Station). Attracted by Toru's appearance and aura, the Producer invites her to join 283 Production. After being flatly rejected, a casual remark he makes『俺が、行くからさ！』overlaps with the situation from back then across time.No matter how many business cards you hand out, nothing beats setting a flag early.
Recognizing that the Producer was the boy from that day, Toru's attitude shifts, and she agrees to take his business card for the time being; by her next appearance, she is already in the office signing a contract.Just as she was guided by the boy back then to challenge the jungle gym, Toru, recalling her vague sense of trust in the Producer, chooses to believe in him once more despite having no interest in being an idol, letting him "color" her. This can be seen as a fulfillment of noctchill's tagline:さよなら、透明だった僕たち"Goodbye, our transparent selves."
In the Season 2 story, the Producer mentions to Toru that he once climbed a jungle gym with a "boy" back in middle school, showing that he hasn't recognized Toru.
In the Season 3 story, due to Toru's "transparent" personality, the Producer feels unable to read her mind and worries if she has enough passion for idol work, so he asks her to keep a journal of her activities and thoughts on work days. One day, a cryptic entry from Toru saying "I've gone on a trip" (when she was actually just taking a walk in the park) leads the Producer to misunderstand that she is leaving the agency, causing him to search for her frantically. This makes Toru realize that the idea of being "connected at heart" through childhood bonds and conveying feelings "without words" was merely her own wishful thinking.
The Season 4 story shows Toru beginning to express her thoughts more sincerely. Through the daily accumulation of their journal entries, the distance between their hearts gradually closes for real.
After winning W.I.N.G., Toru reveals to the Producer that she knows him, but she wants him to remember their first meeting on his own. "Let's climb it, the jungle gym." "Take your time remembering. I'll make sure to convey my feelings properly too—since it seems like it'll take quite a while."
This is the legendary heroine-template childhood friend who falls from the sky; a woman who crushed many SSRs in terms of buzz at her debut with just an R card.
When Hinana asked her directly about the reason for becoming an idol, she glossed over it.
Interpersonal Relationships
Refers to the player as Producer, and usually refers to her fellow unit members by their given names:Koito FukumarutoHinana Ichikawa; and withMadoka Higuchi, they refer to each other by their surnames.
In subsequent stories, she talks and laughs with the Producer, appearing very close. When watching a movie on a phone together and a kiss scene comes up, they both feel embarrassed.
