| “ | Are people equal? Regardless, humans are thinking animals. Modern society constantly advocates for equality, equality. A great man once said, "Heaven does not create one person above another, nor one person below another." But there is a continuation to this quote: "While people are born equal, the gap that later arises between them is a matter of learning or not learning." Although the word "equality" is full of lies, inequality is also a reality that is hard to accept. |

Kiyotaka Ayanokōji(Ayanokōji Kiyotaka) isShōgo KinugasaLight novel series《Classroom of the Elite》a character appearing in the series and its derivative works, the protagonist.
The male protagonist of this work. A first-year student in Class D of Advanced Nurturing High School, student ID S01T004651.
Lacking motivation in everything and having no outlook for the future, he describes himself as an "avoidance-of-trouble-ist." His scores on both the written and practical entrance exams were below average, leading to his placement in the lowest-ranked Class D.
He has practicedPiano, tea ceremony, and calligraphy, but has not joined any clubs. Although he became a topic of conversation among some classmates for being handsome—ranking fifth in the grade's handsome boys list—his thin presence and regrettable communication skills make him an inconspicuous existence even in Class D, thus also ranking high on the "looks gloomy" list. He has a certain desire to make friends but finds it difficult to achieve normal social interaction with others.
As a below-average high school student, he is working hard to improve himself and make friends.

In fact, only the parts about having practiced piano, tea ceremony, and calligraphy, and being handsome, are true. Hails fromPlayed byhis father'sorganizedthe "White Room," which aims to cultivate all-around talents; after eliminating numerous competitors, he became the strongest student in the White Room, and was dubbed the "Strongest Demon" of the White Room's fourth generation. After the White Room was suspended for a year, he left. For the purpose of pursuing freedom, learning about the secular world, and seeking the meaning of "equality" and the true meaning of "strength," he came to the school with the assistance of the butler Matsuo, who sacrificed his lifeto help him come to the Advanced Nurturing High School. He deliberately hides his abilities in various aspects at school, intentionally controlling his scores to be at the median or slightly below average to avoid drawing attention—a typical case of "playing the fool to eat the tiger"—, but his true strength is unfathomable. Whether it be academic ability, intelligence, martial arts, physical ability, or various skills that an ordinary student should not have learned, he is at the top level. It is said that what he has learned far exceeds what an average person would learn in a lifetime. As a fourth-generation student of the White Room, since the personality molding of that generation leaned towards individualism, his personality is somewhat reclusive. He has a complete doll-like poker face, almost never showing emotion to the outside world, and is so calm and avoidant of people and trouble that he is often mistaken for being gloomy. Having grown up in the White Room, he is more accustomed to a life of being followed and monitored than the average person and can handle it easily. A realist who never neglects preparations to protect himself, believing that as long as he wins, the amount of sacrifice does not matter, possessing another side that treats others as pawns or tools to be utilized. However, judging by his actions, he is not purely a realist; he often low-key prevents violence or steps in to save and heal students who are physically and mentally traumatized in places where no one is looking.Especially girls.。Low-key doing favors to win over girls, earning everyone's awe.
According to his inner monologues, he also displays the youth of a typical teenager.Boldthoughts and actions; however, he usually only takes actual action after rationalizing that there are no issues or that it is beneficial. He operates behind the scenes, not easily showing his true colors, and nominally holds no leadership positions. He is the champion in size among males in the same grade, roughly equal to Kouenji, who likely has Western heritage, and surpassing Albert, who has Black heritage. Due to his avoidant nature and self-admitted lack of social skills, thereforewasWith fellow loner classmatesAiri Sakura、Haruka Hasebe,、Teruhiko Yukimura、Akito Miyakeformed the Ayanokouji Group, where they call each other by their first names and meet irregularly. This group is of quite high quality: Airi and Haruka are both large-breasted beauties, Keisei is an academic powerhouse, and Akito has excellent physical abilities.
He is not particularly good at cooking, but afterSuzune Horikitalearning, he reached a basic level. He lacks knowledge about anime and manga, so he can only guess on special exams with anime-related questions. He considers himself ignorant about matters of love and dating, |

On the first day of school, withSuzune Horikita、Kikyō Kushida、Koenji Rokusukehe took the same bus. On the bus, due to his principle of being "someone who avoids unnecessary trouble," he did not give up his seat to an elderly person, and he took note of the fact that the black-haired girl next to him also showed no intention of giving up her seat. After getting off the bus, he was approached by the girl, and the two parted on bad terms due to their differing views.
Arriving at his Class Dclassroom, although he wanted to make friends, he failed to strike up a conversation with anyone. While sighing about this, he discovered that the girl from before was his seatmate. He took the initiative to talk to her, received a response, and learned her name was Horikita Suzune, establishing a minimal relationship with his seatmate, who appeared to be a composed beauty. Although regarding the homeroom teacher'sSae Chabashiraissued student ID card, he was surprised by the large amount of 100,000 personal points (equivalent to 100,000 yen) deposited in it, he didn't pay it much mind.
AtHirata YosukeDuring the class self-introduction session initiated by, he listened to the self-introductions of Hirata,Kokoro Inogashira, Kushida, and others, falling into daydreaming along the way. When it was suddenly his turn, although Ayanokouji wanted to give a spirited self-introduction, it ended in a mundane and total failure. He only received Hirata's consolation and polite applause to smooth things over, failing to make a good impression on the other students. However, in the girls' rankings, he was rated as the second most handsome in Class D after Hirata Yousuke (and his level of coldness was among the highest in the entire grade...).
Entrance CeremonyAfter <seg id="0"/>, he happened to meet Horikita, who hadn't stayed for the self-introductions, at a convenience store. They had a debate regarding making friends, and he attempted to telldirtyjokes to improve their relationship, but failed again and was instead looked down upon by Horikita. While shopping, he discovered that the school provided free daily necessities for students. While feeling puzzled by this, he encountered another classmate who had not participated in the self-introductions,Ken Sudowho was in a conflict with the cashier because he forgot his student ID, so Ayanokōji helped pay for him. After leaving the store, Horikita left first because she didn't get along with Sudō at all. Later, Sudō was provoked by upperclassmen. From the upperclassmen's mouths, concerning information emerged that combined the terms "Class D" and "defective products."
During the lunch break on the first day of classes, he was acting alone because he hadn't managed to get along with anyone, but was approached by Kushida, who wanted to use Ayanokōji to get closer to Horikita. After returning to the classroom with bread bought from the convenience store, he heard the broadcast for the club orientation and planned to attend with the goal of making friends. He invited Horikita to go with him; although she initially refused, she eventually agreed. At the orientation, he noticed Horikita's unusual behavior when she saw the Student Council President, and he became curious about the President'sManabu Horikitasurname. Afterward, he met his classmates Sudō,Kanji IketoHaruki Yamauchiand the others, exchanging contact information with the three of them and taking the first step toward making friends.
During the swimming lesson'sSwimmingspeed test, he only swam a time of 36 seconds, ranking tenth in his group, but successfully avoided the fate of remedial lessons for being at the bottom.
He accepted Kushida's request to invite Horikita to "Palette"Cafe, but Horikita, with her high observational skills, saw through their behind-the-scenes manipulation. Kushida made a straightforward declaration to become friends with Horikita, but was rejected.
At the end of the month, through the information network of Ike and others, he learned that their classmate Hirata andKei Karuizawaseemed to be dating, and he found it incomprehensible how they had become a couple so soon after entering the school. During the subsequent end-of-month quiz, he felt a slight sense of incongruity in the difficulty of the questions and spent a long time confronting the test paper. In the afternoon, he accepted an invitation from Ike and Yamauchi to hang out with Kushida after school. Hirata, Karuizawa, andMatsushita ChiakiandMori Nenecrashed this outing together. The group chatted and shopped together, during which he developed some doubts about the school.
At the morning meeting at the beginning of the next month, they were informed by Chabashira-sensei of the facts that the school measures students by merit, that Class D received a rating of "0" in the first month, and that seven people had failed the quiz. They were also notified that from then on, anyone who failed a formal exam would face expulsion. The Class Points, which serve as the basis for class rankings, showed a huge gap between classes after just one month. Since Class Points affect Personal Points, this also impacted the lives of the Class D students. Horikita told Ayanokōji that she intended to aim for promotion to Class A and needed to make up the gap for that purpose. She requested Ayanokōji's help and unilaterally decided to treat him as a "pawn" from then on, where she would devise the strategies and Ayanokōji would carry them out.
Coerced by Horikita with the favor of an expensive lunch, he agreed to her request to recruit some of the students who failed the mini-test to participate in a study group, and exchanged contact information with Horikita. Sudō and the others were initially unwilling to participate due to their discord with Horikita. Later, he negotiated with Kushida and got her to agree to help recruit people, obtaining Kushida's number in the process. Although including Kushida, Sudō, Ike, Yamauchi, andKyōsuke Okitaniall participated in the study group, but because their academic abilities were lower than Horikita expected, she couldn't help but speak coldly to them. Sudō was annoyed by Horikita's arrogant attitude, causing the study group to be interrupted, and everyone left one after another. Horikita began to believe that those who held the class back were not worth saving, and she did not listen to Ayanokouji's suggestion to put herself in their shoes.
Afterward, Ayanokouji and Horikita had a conversation by the vending machine at night, where he pointed out that the reason Horikita was placed in Class D was her "unilateral judgment of others as burdens, pushing them away from the start to prevent them from getting close, and looking down on opponents." He reached an agreement with Horikita to have her continue looking after the failing group while he provided assistance. Through the efforts of Ayanokouji, Horikita, and Kushida, the study group was held again, following the policy proposed by Horikita. During one study session, Sudō had a conflict with Yamawaki from Class C, but was stopped by a girl from Class B namedIchinose, and at the same time, they learned that the exam scope had changed.Working for nothing for a week。
MidtermexamThe day before the midterm, Kushida distributed the previous year's first-year midterm exam questions, which she had obtained from an upperclassman, to the class as insurance for the final push. During the official exam, because the questions were largely similar to those from previous years, the students of Class D, including Ayanokouji, did not feel much pressure. However, Sudō fell into a crisis because he had not looked at the previous year's English exam questions beforehand.
When the results were announced, although Sudō scored 39 in English, he was told he failed by a single point and faced expulsion. However, in the end, relying on Horikita and Ayanokouji's negotiation with Chabashira, Sudō's expulsion was ultimately rescinded. Everyone held a victory party in Ayanokouji's room because of this.

He deliberately makes himself appear mediocre, attempting to live the life of an ordinary high school student. He controls the exertion of his abilities in various tests. Compared to other students, he realized earlier from various signs that this school is not as simple as it appears on the surface. Therefore, he also realized the meaning of the "school rules" mentioned by Chabashira and found a way to help the academically struggling students in the class pass the exams and avoid expulsion—buying previous years' questions and answers from upperclassmen. And in |
After the midterm exams, Class D's class points rose to 87. However, personal points were not distributed. Chabashira stated, "A dispute has occurred, and points will not be distributed until it is resolved."
In fact, Sudō had a conflict with people from Class C, and [injured] Class C'swho were acting under Ryūen's ordersthree people (Ishizaki, Komiya, Kondō). Sudō might face suspension, meaning class points would still fluctuate depending on the outcome. Sudō claimed Class C provoked the incident, while Class C similarly claimed Class D provoked it.
However, although Class D found a witnessAiri Sakura, their testimony only slightly turned the tide; Sudō was to be suspended for two weeks, and the three from Class C for one week. Since even a single day of suspension could ruin Sudō's chances of becoming a regular player, Suzune still strongly maintained Sudō's complete innocence. Because the claims were diametrically opposed, the Student Council President concluded that "one side has fabricated a malicious lie and involved the school," and postponed the meeting by one day.
Then, on the second day, Class C suddenly withdrew their complaint, and the troublesome dispute ended there. How wonderful, how wonderful。

Ayanokōji borrowed S-points from Ichinose and asked her to buy surveillance cameras, which were installed in the corridor of the special annex. He used Kushida Kikyō's name to lure out the three parties from Class C. Together with Ichinose, he used gaslighting (cognitive denial, a psychological manipulation technique) to make Ishizaki and the others reveal their flaws, leading them to conclude that "everything has been exposed, and the result of continuing will only be our own expulsion," thus causing them to withdraw the complaint. Afterward, the three were punished with violence by Ryūen for their incompetence. Then Ayanokōji and Ichinose used the surveillance cameras again to save Sakura, who was being followed by a stalker.Affection level ↑↑↑ |
Chabashira's promise to "take you on a vacation during summer break" became a reality,Not mentioned in the anime. The first-year students boarded a luxurycruise ship, starting a two-weekjourney. The destination is a southern island.
However, as soon as they landed, all students were informed—what was about to begin was the first special exam of the year.
Students will work in class units on thisuninhabited island, where there are no guesthouses as imagined,to live for a week. The supplies provided by the school were only two tents per class, two flashlights, a box of matches, a portable toilet, as well as one toothbrush per person and unlimited sunscreen, plastic bags for theportable toilet, and sanitary products.
The theme of the exam is "Freedom," and the school distributed 300 exam-exclusive points to each class. These exam-limited points can be exchanged for supplies and will be converted into Class Points after the exam ends.
After the rules were explained, conflict immediately arose within Class D. Different factions formed within the class regarding the use of points. Ayanokōji thought, "There are as many strategic models as there are students," and lowered his presence as usual. Seeing that other classes had already left the beach to find a base, Ike and others decided to leave the discussion to search for a suitable base. Later, after things settled down slightly, others also began to form groups to gather information. Ayanokōji, Sakura, and Kōenji were assigned to the same group. Kōenji walked very fast and soon disappeared from sight.Koenji's route was exactly the same as the "best route" Ayanokoji had in mind. This was also omitted in the anime, to the point where the anime staff portrayed Koenji as a Tarzan jumping from tree to tree...Ayanokoji then acted together with Sakura, only to see Katsuragi from Class A walking out of a cave suspected to be a base, holding a keycard that symbolized the leader's identity. Afterwards, the two returned to Class D and learned that Ike had found a base with an ample water supply. Meanwhile, Koenji had gone swimming in the sea and had not returned for a long time.
Ayanokoji, Sakura, and Yamauchi went to look for branches to start a fire, but they encountered Class C'sMio Ibuki. Ibuki had clearly been beaten up, and Yamauchi took the initiative to invite the lone Ibuki to Class D's base camp.Such DD behavior; he just said Kushida was too difficult, then switched his target to Sakura, and then...Ayanokoji did not stop him,but he noticed that the soil where Ibuki was sitting was fresh.
After the fire was lit, the atmosphere in Class D gradually relaxed, and the previous disputes were resolved. Everyone discussed the use of the exam points together. Then they learned that Koenji had swum back to the cruise ship, resulting in -30 points.
Class D began their harmonious collective life.
Horikita and Ayanokoji went out to scout together; Class A would use the previouscavernas their baseand start cave-dwelling.Class B was atthe forestset up tents and hammocks by the well. Meanwhile, Class C was atbeacheating, drinking, and having fun, and that same night the entire class withdrew and returned to the shipto continue eating, drinking, and having fun.。
The next day, Karuizawa's underwear was stolen. The girls, led by Shinohara, demanded to check the boys' luggage and had Hirata search the other boys. Ike discovered the underwear was actually in his bag and immediately stuffed it into Ayanokōji's hand behind him, who then put it in his back pocket. After searching all the boys' luggage and frisking Ayanokōji and the others, Hirata stated that nothing was found.[1]Afterwards, Shinohara requested that the living areas for boys and girls be separated. At Horikita's suggestion,Harmless[2]Ayanokōji was sent to move the tents, as one of only two laborers, while watching others fish,he set up the tents.
On the morning of the sixth day, Ayanokōji, Sakura, Horikita, Yamauchi, Kushida, and Ibuki (who was invited by Ayanokōji) went looking for food together. To confirm whether the keycard he saw in Katsuragi's hand on the first day was the one symbolizing the leader's identity, Ayanokōji asked Horikita to let him see Class D's keycard, but accidentally dropped it on the ground when returning it. After picking it up, Yamauchi suddenly smeared mud all over Horikita's head from behind. Seeing that there were too many people queuing in front of the showers, Horikita went to the river to wash off the mud. Upon returning to the base camp, Horikita discovered that the camp was on fire.

On August 7th, the exam ended, and Class D suffered heavy losses due to two people withdrawing. Because the key card was stolen, the exposure of the leader would also lead to all points gained from occupying spots becoming invalid. It was truly a tragedy.

While still on the ship, Ayanokōji realized that this trip was by no means as relaxed and pleasant as it appeared on the surface. After the ship circumnavigated the island, he immediately locked onto a conspicuous cave. In the cave, he saw Katsuragi and his supporter Yahiko, and concluded that Katsuragi would not carelessly walk out of the cave with the key card, thus deducing that Class A's leader was actually Yahiko. While at the beach where Class C was located, Ayanokōji saw Ryūen exchange points for walkie-talkies, and found the same type of walkie-talkie under the tree where he met Ibuki, leading him to infer that Ryūen was setting a trap and might still be on the island carrying out his plan. To make Class C dare to guess Class D's leader, Ayanokōji used Sakura's email as bait and had Yamauchi smear mud all over Horikita, forcing her to bathe in cold water, which further worsened her physical condition and gave Ibuki the opportunity to steal the key card. To make Ibuki personally steal the key card and go to Ryūen, Ayanokōji broke Ibuki's camera and walkie-talkie, and set a fire to give Ibuki a chance to leave Class D's base camp. As for the digital camera, Ayanokōji realized it was intended to gain others' trust as evidence. Combining this with the value of the supplies Class C purchased at the beach, he deduced that Class A and Class C had collaborated. By causing Horikita's physical condition to deteriorate early, he forced her to withdraw from the exam and used the legitimate excuse of the "leader's poor health" to change Class D's leader to himself, causing the information obtained by Class A and Class C to be incorrect and rendering all their extra points invalid. In the end, Class D achieved a great victory.Ryūen: I never would have expected— |
Not long after the students returned to the ship, they received an email from the school. The school announced that a second special exam would be held. The students were divided into twelve groups named after the Chinese Zodiac, and Ayanokōji was grouped with Hideo Sotomura, Teruhiko Yukimura (who calls himself Keisei), andKei Karuizawaassigned to the Rabbit Group. After the rules were explained, everyone was at a loss. In Ayanokōji's view, as long as onelike himselfmaintained a poker face, they could obtain 500,000 personal points. However, since the identity of the VIP was unknown, each class would try their best to gather information. During the Rabbit Group's first discussion, Class B, led by Ichinose, proposed a cooperation plan pursuing Outcome 1,[3]which was questioned by Class A, led by Machida. All of Class A followed the "no discussion" policy proposed by Katsuragi, standing in direct opposition to Class B. Class C and Class D did not propose any other plans and wavered between the two options.
While Class A and Class B were in a standoff, Manabe from Class C directed her spearhead at Karuizawa. Ayanokōji noticed that since the grouping, Karuizawa was unexpectedly not as assertive, still causing trouble as usual, but turning to Machida from Class A for help when targeted by Manabe.
The second discussion still made no progress.
Afterward, because Class A refused to participate in the discussion, the classes still hadn't identified the VIP. After leaving the room, Ayanokōji and Yukimura found Manabe and two others chasing Karuizawa, taking her to a deserted fire escape. Yukimura opened the door and stopped Manabe's group just before they could take action, but the conflict was not resolved. Late that night, Ayanokōji met with Chabashira as planned.
At 2:00 AM, Ayanokouji, acting as "Horikita's intermediary," had a secret meeting with Hirata in the hallway and went to meet Karuizawa together. However, Karuizawa was quite dissatisfied with Ayanokouji's unexpected appearance. Under Hirata's coordination, the three began to study the conflict between Karuizawa and Manabe's group. But the plan proposed by Hirata made Karuizawa extremely dissatisfied. Karuizawa got up and left, and the discussion was forcibly terminated. Ayanokouji talked with Hirata, learned the truth about Hirata and Karuizawa's relationship, and deduced Karuizawa's true nature from it. Seeing that Ayanokouji thought of the truth so quickly, Hirata said he "got goosebumps" and told Ayanokouji, "I think you are a frightening existence," realizing that although Ayanokouji claimed to be acting according to Horikita's instructions, his own actions were by no means achievable by instructions alone. Hirata told Ayanokouji about Karuizawa's past and the reason why he wanted to serve as a leader within the class.
Around 4:00 PM, at Hirata's request, Ayanokouji went to the bottom of the ship to meet Karuizawa on behalf of the busy Hirata, but unexpectedly saw Manabe and others assaulting Karuizawa. Ayanokouji did not rush forward, but chose to record Manabe and the others' assault as evidence. After Manabe and the others left, he went forward and told Karuizawa that he would use the video in his hand to stop Manabe and the others from spreading rumors.
Due to Class A's policy of inaction, the discussion was difficult to proceed. Until the last day of the exam, the other members were still playing poker. In the final moments, Ichinose proposed a win-win plan for everyone to disclose the emails in their mobile phones. Although some had objections, the mobile phone emails were eventually disclosed. But when it came to Yukimura, Yukimura stuttered an apology to his Class D classmates and showed the "You are the VIP" email sent by the school. The classes reached an agreement to trust each other, but Ichinose suddenly dialed Ayanokouji's number, and it was Yukimura's phone that rang. Ayanokouji and Yukimura's method of swapping applications and communication records was exposed. Ichinose stated that although applications, communication records, and phone passwords could be transferred or forged, the phone's SIM card was locked, a method Class B had already tested. After the operation was exposed, Yukimura was quite depressed. Meanwhile, Machida was very dismissive of Class D's tactics.
Shortly after, the exam officially ended. Due to Ryuen's

When leaving after the second discussion ended, Ayanokouji spoke to Manabe, stating that he had seen Karuizawa having a conflict with students from other classes. This caused the conflict between Manabe's group and Karuizawa to reignite. When Ayanokouji met with Chabashira, he asked about the "most expensive thing purchased with points in the past," and Chabashira gave the example of "delaying the criteria for determining lateness by one minute," which is a school rule. Ayanokouji opened a new anonymous email to contact Manabe. Pretending to be a Class D student dissatisfied with Karuizawa, he claimed he could lure Karuizawa to the deserted bottom of the ship. At the same time, he used Hirata's name to lure Karuizawa to the bottom of the ship in advance. Following the "Milgram experiment," he used the bottom of the ship as a closed environment to make Manabe and the others' willingness to use violence even stronger. He himself took photos quietly from a distance. "After a complete collapse, reconstruction will be easier, right?" So he left and closed the door after taking photos. He only returned to the room after confirming that Manabe and the others had left. Relying on "Karuizawa's desire not to let others know about her past" and the photos in his hand, Ayanokouji completely suppressed Karuizawa, Karuizawa was even willing to pay the price of her body. Ayanokouji tried to make Karuizawa establish a situation favorable to himself on top of her strong heart, using the photos originally intended to threaten Manabe to force Karuizawa to obey his orders. Ayanokouji learned from Hirata that Karuizawa was the VIP of the Rabbit Group, so he spent points before the end of the exam to change the school rules—unlocking the SIM card lock and swapping his SIM card with Karuizawa's. Afterward, he conducted a second round of swapping with the unaware Yukimura, thereby deceiving the vast majority of people and making almost everyone believe that the VIP of the Rabbit Group was Ayanokouji. Morishige, from the Sakayanagi faction who superficially obeyed Katsuragi in Class A, chose to betray but guessed wrong, leading to Result 4. |

Went with classmates to help buy a birthday gift and ran into a troubled Katsuragi. Later, he found out the reason: Katsuragi wanted to send a birthday gift to his only sister, but the school does not allow items to be sent outside. With Ayanokouji's help, it was successfully sent, and he owed Ayanokouji a favor.
Invited by Sudo to go fortune-telling., but in reality, he wanted Ayanokōji to invite Horikita; after being rejected, he decided not to go himself either. The next day, he went alone, only to find out while queuing that fortune-telling required pairs, and he encountered Ibuki who was also queuing alone. For some reason, he went alone again a second time and ran into Ibuki once more; after some hesitation, the two teamed up for the fortune-telling. He was told by the fortune-teller that he was a possessor of "Shukumei Kūbō"[4]. Later, he and Ibuki were trapped in an elevatorElevator boy, and were rescued by Katsuragi.
That evening, Horikita called, but the call cut off the moment Ayanokōji was about to answer; after this repeated several times, Ayanokōji inquired via message, and after some awkward conversation, Horikita invited Ayanokōji to her room. The truth was that Horikita's small female-use water bottle had gotten her hand completely stuck, and the water was also cut off. After some effort, he successfully pulled the water bottle off Horikita's hand; Ayanokōji, skeptical, tried it himself, only to find the size was a perfect fit, and his arm ended up being firmly fixed in place, unable to be pulled out.
Yamauchi wanted to confess to Sakura and asked Ayanokōji for help. After a lot of trouble, he was given a "good person" card (rejected)It was all for nothing。

After the summer vacation ended, the Sports Festival arrived. However, the distribution of the Sports Festival materials caused a huge controversy. There were many events in the Sports Festival that required everyone to participate, which was extremely unfriendly to students who were physically weak or disliked exercise. But since a large amount of class points were involved, Class D had to respond effectively. Horikita, who had performed prominently in several actions, decided to implement a strategy of survival of the fittest to secure the maximum benefit for Class D, bluntly stating, "Let those with insufficient ability serve as cannon fodder to wear down the elite contestants of other classes." Meanwhile, Karuizawa sought the support of Shinohara and Kushida, proposing a counter-plan to "take care of everyone as much as possible." Facing a split in camps, Class D held a vote. Horikita's plan won by a margin of 3 votes due to its efficiency and maximization of class interests.
During the Sports Festival, Horikita and SudōBecause Kushida leaked the participation orderwere targeted by Ryūen. Ryūen used a large amount of nasty psychological tactics, even at the cost of class points, using violent means where the class's main forces traded injuries to force Horikita to submit. Sudō also broke down in the face of the dire situation, leaving the field and hiding during the competition. The situation became extremely unfavorable for a time.
Horikita, unable to perform at full strength due to her injuries, agreed to Ayanokōji's proposal to give up the competition and go persuade Sudō to return. During this time, she was framed by Ryūen for intentionally knocking down a Class C main force member and causing serious injury, with Ryūen demanding 1 million points in compensation and a kowtow apology. After the Sports Festival ended, the matter was dropped just as it was about to be carried out.
It wasn't until the final 1200m relay race that Sudō was persuaded to return. Sudō conducted a deep self-reflection and expressed his desire to at least win this final race. At that moment, Miyake stated that he had sprained his ankle, so Ayanokōji stepped in as a substitute.
Ultimately, Class D undoubtedly finished in last place. But all classes suffered losses in different aspects, and the first-year group ultimately maintained a balance through a collective setback[5], and no significant gap was opened. How wonderful, how wonderful
| However, that is not the case. |

Ayanokouji saw through Kushida's betrayal of Class D early on, but deliberately took no action, hoping that Horikita would suffer a setback and grow from it Ayanokouji secretly had Karuizawa play devil's advocate, causing the conflicts arising from Horikita's strategy to intensify early and be resolved. During the grip strength test, Ayanokouji was misled by Sudo; he intended to keep his score at a middle level, but compared to the average, it was[6]15kg higher, placing him second and forcing him to participate in more events. As a substitute, Ayanokouji ran neck-and-neck with Horikita Manabu, attracting a lot of attention, including from Nagumo. |
After the sports festival, the students faced the final exams. Before the finals, an additional quiz was held. Chabashira revealed that the quiz scores would have no direct impact on grades, but the results would significantly affect the upcoming final exams.
The rule for the final exam was that students would take the exam in pairs. There were two ways to be disqualified: first, if the combined score of the pair in a single subject was less than sixty; second, if the total combined score of the pair across all eight subjects was below approximately seven hundred points. The exam questions were to be devised and created by the students themselves, and then specifically assigned to one of the three classes other than their own.
The final result was that Classes A and B, and Classes C and D, would create questions for each other.
Horikita and the others deduced that the quiz was for pairing students for the final exam, matching the highest scorers with the lowest, and so on. Thus, they announced the rule to the class, instructing the worst-performing students to get 0 points and the slightly better ones to get 1 point, ensuring that low-scoring students would definitely be matched with high-scoring ones.
One less-than-ideal pair was formed during the quiz—both had the same subject imbalances and struggled with the same types of questions, and their scores were in a precarious state.HasebetoMiyakecombination. The areas they were good and bad at overlapped, meaning that while they might exceed the average in some subjects, they might fall below it in others, leading to expulsion. Since Hirata and Horikita's study groups were already full, Horikita handed them over to Ayanokouji for tutoring. Yukimura, who had held the class back during the Sports Festival, volunteered to join the study group to tutor them, and thus the Ayanokouji Study Group was formed. Later, with the addition of Sakura, the study group became a long-term organization known as the Ayanokouji Group.
On the way back from a study session, Kushida asked Horikita out. Horikita proposed a bet—in the upcoming final exam, they would compare their scores in a single subject, Mathematics. If Horikita's score was higher than Kushida's, Kushida would stop interfering with her; if Kushida's score was higher, Horikita would have to drop out. This bet was witnessed and its execution ensured by Horikita Manabu. Later, Ayanokouji traded the condition that he would drop out with Horikita if she lost for the truth behind the incident that caused Kushida to hate Horikita.
A week before the final exam, everyone agreed to go to a KTV to summarize and organize the results of the study group, as information wouldn't leak in a closed environment.
While Kushida was encouraging everyone, Karuizawa spoke out in opposition and got into a conflict with Kushida, spilling juice on Kushida's clothes. Later, at Hirata's urging, Karuizawa apologized to Kushida and took her clothes to be cleaned as a gesture of apology.
After the discussion, everyone returned to the dormitory entrance and found a mass email in their mailboxes: "Ichinose Honami of Class 1-B has collected a large number of points through illicit means. - Ryuen Kakeru." In response, Ichinose stated she would report to the school the next day to prove she hadn't used illicit means. The following day, the school indeed posted a notice confirming that Ichinose had done nothing improper.
With three days left until the final exam, Class D had made a qualitative leap over the past month, while Class C, strangely enough, had hardly studied together. Horikita had also finished designing the exam questions and intended to submit them to the teacher. The selection and review of these questions were done entirely by Horikita alone; no one else knew the questions. At the office door to submit the questions, Horikita also ran into Ryuen from Class C, who was there to submit his class's questions.
Just as Class D's homeroom teacher, Chabashira, was about to accept the questions, Horikita made a request—if anyone wanted to view the contents of the exam later, she should refuse them all, including Horikita herself. Chabashira accepted her request but stated that there might be times when disclosure was necessary for certain situations, so there was an additional condition: the questions and answers could be disclosed if Horikita's permission was obtained. Horikita then prepared to leave.
Just as she was about to leave, Horikita questioned Chabashira's wording and asked if anyone else had submitted or was going to submit questions. Chabashira stated that Kushida had indeed submitted questions earlier, and Kushida had also requested that her permission be required to change the questions. Furthermore, "the acceptance of the questions has already been completed." With less than two hours until the deadline, it was too late. Ryuen's reaction was to laugh, stating, "Of course it wasn't my instruction. How could I know anything about Class D's business?"
However, after the exam, Horikita successfully defeated Kushida and won the bet, and Class D also successfully defeated Class C.How wonderful, how wonderful
| However, that is not the case. |
|---|
|
Horikita had asked Chabashira in advance and obtained the "right to decide on the submission of questions," requesting that "no matter who else comes, please pretend to accept them," which was granted. The questions Kushida submitted were not accepted, and Class C, which hadn't studied, would face Horikita's questions. Even Ayanokouji was not informed of this plan. Ayanokouji was unaware of Horikita's actions, so he made other preparations on his own to ensure the exam was foolproof. Ayanokouji had Karuizawa find a way to get Kushida's school uniform wet, and with Hirata's intervention, Karuizawa managed to get hold of it. After the uniform was cleaned, Ayanokouji hid the answers to the original exam questions inside it as a backup. If Kushida were to defeat Horikita, he could invalidate her score and potentially have her punished by reporting her for cheating. Ayanokouji sent an email to Ryuen using his identity as "X," providing some information and informing him that his methods had been seen through, forcing Ryuen to make a choice. Ryuen ultimately decided to change the questions and provided the questions Class C had created to Ayanokouji. The questions Kushida received were completely different from the original ones, and her mental state took a heavy blow when she saw the exam paper. Furthermore, the letters accusing Ichinose were also delivered by Ayanokouji under a false name. However, after this exam, Ryuen's suspicions regarding X became clearer, and he pointed his spearhead at Karuizawa. |
Class C failed the exam, and the gap with Class D narrowed rapidly. Furthermore, another violation occurred later, and after being penalized, their class points were slightly lower than Class D's, putting them at risk of demotion. To this end, Ryuen launched a series of actions, such as sending Class C members to tail and monitor Class D members. Horikita speculated that Ryuen was looking for the person operating in the shadows of Class D. Ayanokoujideliberately played dumband said, "So you're saying he's looking for you?" However, Horikita believed that given Ryuen's habit of directly targeting his goals, the target this time was definitely not her, but another member of Class D. Fearing that their conversation might be overheard, the two stopped talking.
Ayanokouji planned to attend the Ayanokouji Group's gathering. Entrusted by Horikita, he received the popular "Farewell, My Lovely" from her to return to the library. Out of interest, he borrowed it again for himself. While wandering in the mystery novel section, he encounteredHiyori Shiina, and even had lunch together, which scared Sakura into spilling her food, had a pleasant exchange, fully exchanged opinions, and deepened their relationship.Am I writing a misleading entry? (lol)
After meeting with the other group members, Hasebe began to speculate about the relationship between Ayanokouji and Shiina, making a rather shocking statement. Meanwhile, Akito and Keisei suspected that Shiina wasa beautiful secret agent, sent to scout for information on Class D. After the topic of romance concluded, everyone began to research the topic of "whether Class D has a hidden strategist." Ayanokouji stated, "finallycame to an end.
After school the next day, Ayanokouji received an invitation fromMaya Sato, and using the excuse of being busy,
The two sides engaged in a heated argument. However, Ayanokouji was told that Matsuo, the butler who helped him escape from the White Room, was pressured by Ayanokouji's father through various means and eventually committed self-immolation. Matsuo's son was expelled and became unemployed. The Matsuo family's situation became extremely tragic. This had a significant impact on Ayanokouji. Ayanokouji still remained calm, deducing from the man's behavior that he currently lacked the power to force him to drop out. Afterward, Ayanokouji met and spoke with Chairman Sakayanagi. After leaving the reception room, Ayanokouji spoke with Chabashira and confirmed that she had only been deceiving him to make him work for Class D. For this reason, Ayanokouji decided and declared to Chabashira that he would stop all contributions to Class D.
On his way back, Ayanokouji had a phone call with Karuizawa, informing her that he would stop contacting her, and Karuizawa was greatly shaken by this. He also picked up a charm belonging to a second-year girl who had been confessed to by Nagumo, who "hits on girls everywhere," and delivered it to the second-year dormitory.
Ayanokouji concluded that he could easily fade from most people's sight. However, Ryuuen was his only remaining threat. While Ayanokouji was thinking, he received a visit from Manabu Horikita and learned that Nagumo would hold great power after the third-years graduated. Ayanokouji asked Manabu Horikita for his contact information and gave a "I'll consider helping"
On Saturday night, while Ayanokouji and the Ayanokouji Group were returning from karaoke, they encountered Sakayanagi and Ichinose.
And this is where the core of Ryuen's revenge begins
Just as Chabashira finished the class meeting, students from Class C suddenly entered Class D. Since almost everyone who appeared was from Class C's combatant faction, the atmosphere was very heavy. However, the Class C students didn't do anything. After making a provocation, Ryuen cast his gaze toward Koenji, who was leaving the classroom, and then led his group away. Class D students suggested following both parties to prevent a violent incident. Sudo nervously remarked, "It's almost like a war is about to start."
Ryuen and his group cornered Koenji, and Ayanokouji and the others soon found Ryuen. Shortly after the confrontation began, four people from Class A, led by Sakayanagi, suddenly appeared, making a violent incident impossible. Koenji was not surprised by this and sneered at Ryuen, saying, "You're looking for the existence in Class D that's hindering you, right? Unfortunately, I have zero interest in the future of Class D, or the future of any other class."And he called Ryuen "dragon boy," a nickname Sakayanagi took a liking to, and was deemed by Ryuen not to be X.It's good to be richSwiss style
After this, Ryuen further narrowed down the scope of X, but nearly ten candidates still remainedAt the same time, he expressed his belief that his surveillance operation had put a lot of pressure on X. Thus, he decided to use unconventional methods. Ryuen to X andKei Karuizawasent an email, attempting to force X to reveal himself or lose his arrangements through Karuizawa.
Ryuen's group used spray paint on the rooftop to block the only surveillance camera view[7], threatening Karuizawa with her past to make her reveal X's identity. Karuizawa believed that this leverage could be used again in the future, and revealing it would also mean losing X's protection, so she refused to disclose X's identity.
Ryuen then bullied Karuizawa, causing her severe psychological trauma, and informed her of the truth behind "being protected by X"—that X had intentionally allowed her to be subjected to violence by Manabe and others to take the opportunity to manipulate her and leave evidence to threaten Manabe and the others. Karuizawa thus learned that her ordeal was actually X's design. However, Karuizawa still did not reveal X's identity until the end, thinking that sacrificing herself to help X pursue stability wasn't so bad, setting up a flag: "But it was quite exciting when I teamed up with Kiyotaka to do various things.", but deep down she still believed that X would come to save her.
X appeared at the final moment, defeating everyone else single-handedly and saving Kei.How wonderful, how wonderful。
| However, that is not the case. |
|---|
|
X was, of course, Ayanokouji. He appeared at the last moment to instill in her the will to believe in him to the end, no matter what happened. Ayanokouji Using the contact information he had obtained earlier, he called Manabu Horikita and had him witness the people on the rooftop, after which Ayanokouji ascended to the roof, Ryuen intended to use violence to make Ayanokouji submit[8], but the training Ayanokouji received in the White Room was not just calligraphy and piano, but also combat. Ayanokouji instantly defeated Albert and Ishizaki, stating that if he truly intended to keep his identity from being discovered, he wouldn't have threatened Manabe from the very beginning. In other words, Ayanokouji exploited Ryuen's reliance on violence, and the situation evolving into a violent confrontation was all induced by Ayanokouji. Then, Ryuen had always believed that "violence" was the greatest weapon. After receiving Ryuen's provocation, Ayanokouji stood still and took a few punches before using his own fists to let Ryuen know that he had completely lost to Ayanokouji in "violence." Ryuen felt a "fear" he had never experienced before and decided to admit defeat, subsequently stepping down from the leadership of Class C and preparing to drop out, only to be stopped by Ayanokouji. |
Before winter break began, Sato and Ayanokouji agreed to go on a date on December 25th.
On the 23rd, Sato, who had no experience in romance, turned tothe similarly inexperiencedKaruizawa for help, asking Karuizawa to join their date with Hirata for a double date to assist her, while also revealing her decision to confess. In order to suppress her feelings for Ayanokouji, which"would be harmful to mental health,"feelings, she agreed to assist Sato.
After returning to the dormitory, Karuizawa began to worry that Sato would threaten her position. Just then, she received a contact from Ayanokouji, who broke his previous promise of no further contact, and was asked to investigate information about Sato. Although Karuizawa complained, she still managed to find out the information through Shinohara.
While Sato and Karuizawa were meeting, Ayanokouji happened to encounter Sakayanagi at the exit of Keyaki Mall. After some small talk, Sakayanagi declared war on him, claiming she would prove that even the White Room could not bridge the gap between
After parting with Sakayanagi, Ayanokouji decided to go seea poorly-rated B-grademovie, and unexpectedly found Ibuki sitting next to him, and was stared at intensely by Ibuki for a long time. Halfway through the movie, playback was paused for at least twenty minutes due to equipment issues. During this time, the two were at loggerheads with a tense atmosphere, yet neither chose to leave first. Eventually, the screening was terminated. Ibuki caught up with Ayanokouji, and as they were about to part ways, they ran into Ishizaki and others. After hiding until they were gone, Ayanokouji was challenged to a duel by Ibuki.
The duel location they found was a drugstore warehouse. An employee had forgotten to lock the door, so the two took the opportunity to enter, only to be locked inside and unable to get out. After easily defeating Ibuki, Ayanokouji used the drugstore's phone to find the employee who forgot to lock the door. He pretended the two were on a date and, by leveraging the fact that forgetting to lock the door was the employee's fault and something he wouldn't want to publicize, successfully concealed the incident of being locked in. The two then went their separate ways.
After this, he ran intoTsunderethe incident between Ike and Shinohara. The next day, he happened to learn that the two were going to have dinner together on Christmas Eve.
At 7:00 AM on the 24th, he met with Ryuuen and Horikita Manabu. He was asked to stop Nagumo. To return the favor, he allowed Horikita Manabu to give his contact information to the only second-year student with the ability and will to resist Nagumo. He invited Horikita to join the student council, but was still rejected even after mentioning Horikita Manabu. That evening, he received a Christmas gift from Sakura: his first pair of gloves.
On the 25th, he met with Satou and "accidentally" ran into Karuizawa and Hirata, deciding to act together. During this time, Karuizawa kept belittling Ayanokouji because he hadn't shown concern for her after the rooftop incident, while also actively trying to set up Ayanokouji and Satou. After a five-hour double date, they parted ways with Karuizawa and Hirata, and under the "Legendary Tree," Satouconfessed, rejecting her because he "had not yet grown to the stage of being able to fall in love."
Afterwards, Ayanokouji received a call from that Nagumo-resister and called out Karuizawa, who was eavesdropping in the bushes. The two went together to meet him and learned his identity was Vice President Kiriyama. After the meeting, Ayanokouji and Karuizawa exchanged Christmas gifts, deepening their bond, and incidentally retracted the

At the beginning of this volume, Chabashira-sensei explained the rules of the suddenly added Class Poll to the students of Class C: each person has 3 praise votes, 3 criticism votes, and 1 praise vote for a student in another class. Everyone must cast their votes for different people they deem appropriate. Finally, the school tallies the results, with a praise vote counting as +1 and a criticism vote as -1 to get the final score. The student with the lowest score in each class is expelled. The student with the highest score in each class receives a Protection Point (which protects them from expulsion once and cannot be traded). Under Sakayanagi's instructions, Yamauchi asked Kushida to get the majority of students, who were undecided on whom to give their criticism votes to, to vote for Ayanokoji, deciding to have him expelled. Informed by Karuizawa and with information from the Ayanokoji Group, Ayanokoji used a scheme through Manabu Horikita to have Suzune Horikita stand up and expose the fact of Yamauchi's betrayal, turning the spearhead toward Yamauchi. Many people regretted their actions of voting for Ayanokoji during this announcement part and seemed prepared to cast their criticism votes for Yamauchi. Kushida was depressed due to Horikita's exposure and seemed to have lost her absolute leadership within the class. Hirata, dissatisfied with Horikita's direct canvassing, requested everyone in the class to give him their criticism votes. On the day of the exam, Hirata canvassed for himself again. It seems to be a method of getting himself expelled that he thought of after pondering Yamauchi's request not to let him be expelled.Yamauchi became arrogant due to Sakayanagi's promise (that she would give him all of Class A's external praise votes to prevent his expulsion). After the results were announced, Ayanokoji, Hirata, and Kushida took the top three spots, while Ike, Sudo, and Yamauchi took the bottom three. Yamauchi could not accept the reality, and under Koenji'sdeliberate for self-preservationprovocation, he almost came to blows with him, and was eventually taken from the classroom by Chabashira-sensei to go through the expulsion procedures. Hirata fell into despair immediately after seeing the results, becoming self-destructivewhich even lasted for two volumes. The student expelled from Class A was Yahiko, and the one who received a Protection Point was Sakayanagi. The student originally set to be expelled from Class B was Kanzaki, but he was saved by points, and the one who received a Protection Point was Ichinose. The student expelled from Class D was Manabe, and the one who received a Protection Point was Kaneda.
| However, that is not the case. |
|---|
|
In reality, Sakayanagi did not want Ayanokoji to be expelled; this plan was only to draw Ayanokoji into taking action and to get Yamauchi expelled.Because Yamauchi had previously knocked Sakayanagi down and hadn't apologized yet. This was formed. While using maiden-like behavior to stir up Yamauchi's lust, she used a scheme to make him solicit votes against Ayanokouji to get him expelled. At the last moment, Class A's praise votes were not given to Yamauchi, but to Ayanokouji. Furthermore, when Katsuragi thought he was about to be expelled, she instructed the Class A students to expel Yahiko instead. Ichinose had been worried from the start about how to gather 20 million private points to prevent anyone from Class B from being expelled; after collecting everyone's points, she found she still needed 4 million, so she requested them from NagumoRecovered from Ryuuen; Ryuuen thought he was truly going to be expelled and felt that private points were of no use, so he handed them over to Ibuki.. Finally, because Ibuki hated Manabeand Ayanokouji wanted to use this opportunity to get rid of Manabe, causing her expulsion. |

On the way to school on the first day of the second semester, Ayanokouji reveals to Sudo that he is dating Karuizawa while they discuss the progress between Ike and Shinohara, which surprises Sudo. During the homeroom meeting, Chabashira announces that the Sports Festival and Cultural Festival will be held in October and November, and explains the specific arrangements for the Cultural Festival. After two weeks of discussion and preparation, the maid cafe proposed by Sato and others is finalized as the main project, with Ayanokouji serving as the person in charge.
Ayanokouji becoming the manager of the maid cafeThe next morning, Chabashira announces that the Unanimous Special Exam will be held tomorrow. Rules: For five tasks set by the school, votes must be cast within 60 seconds (an accumulated timeout of 90 seconds results in expulsion, and that vote will not count toward the result). If unanimity is not reached, a ten-minute discussion follows before revoting. Completion within five hours earns 50 class points; otherwise, 300 are lost. If the exam fails, tasks already passed remain in effect, while the timed-out task becomes void. Protection points are invalid for this exam; only the 20 million point relief method is available.
After the homeroom meeting, Ayanokouji and Karuizawa go public with their relationship, shocking the class. Airi is deeply hurt, and Haruka asks Ayanokouji about it after school. That night, Ayanokouji devises an exam strategy: he will vote for the first option and Horikita for the second in the first round to prevent accidental unanimity; he arranges for Hirata to assist Horikita and sets up code instructions. Late at night, Chairman Sakayanagi informs him that an assassin sent by Ayanokouji's father will be among the Cultural Festival guests and suggests he skip the Sports Festival.
The next day, encouraged by Hasebe, Airi asks to meet Ayanokouji after the exam. Later, Chabashira explains that a teacher is stationed at the back of each classroom to monitor if the homeroom teacher interferes. Seats and options are shuffled, and privacy screens are added to minimize interference.
Task ①: Choose which class to face in the final exam held in the third semester (additional points for victory in parentheses): Class A (100), Class B (50), Class D (0). The first vote result was A-5, B-21, D-13. The second vote reached unanimity for Class B.
Task ②: A school trip is scheduled for late November; choose the destination: Hokkaido, Kyoto, Okinawa. First result: 17:3:19. Second result: 18:4:17. Later, it was proposed to decide by rock-paper-scissors. Team Hokkaido: Maezono, Ishikura, ShinOnly four people, including Ayanokouji, Horikita, and Keisei, chose this.. In the end, Hokkaido won.
Task ③ A. No personal points for everyone for half a year, protection points given to three random people. B. Personal points for everyone halved for half a year, protection points given to one chosen student. C. The bottom five scorers in the next written exam receive no personal points for half a year. Initial result 12:5:22. Keisei persuaded everyone to choose B, giving it to Horikita.
Task ④ In the written exam at the end of the second semester: Increase difficulty, increase punishment, decrease reward. Initial voting result 6:18:15, after discussion, it passed with increasing punishment in the second round.
Task ⑤ Expel one classmate in exchange for 100 Class Points. Chabashira's face grew increasingly pale. Initially 2 votes in favor; Sudō questioned it, and Horikita explained it as a strategy. Still two votes in the second round; Ayanokōji explained he voted against both times to prevent chaos. In the third and fourth rounds, there were still two votes; Kōenji admitted to being one of the supporters (due to losing points in Task 3). Horikita promised to pay him 10,000 points monthly to change his vote to against. Fifth round: 1 vote in favor (three hours remaining).
Karuizawa asked Horikita if she knew the other supporter; Horikita said she couldn't say yet. Ayanokōji asked Hirata and Kushida, but both had no clues. The sixth to eighth rounds each had one vote in favor. Chabashira lost her composure, revealing she had participated in a similar exam and hoped everyone would choose without regret. The ninth to eleventh rounds still had one vote; Horikita asked everyone individually, and all claimed to have voted against. Twelfth round: two votes in favor (the other vote was Ayanokōji's). Subsequently, the votes increased: 5 votes in the thirteenth round, 12 votes in the fourteenth. Ayanokōji lied, saying he would vote in favor from then on and proposed finding and expelling that supporter. Horikita asked for one more chance; the fifteenth round still had one vote in favor. Sixteenth round: 39 votes in favor. Hirata volunteered; seventeenth round: 6 votes in favor. Kushida cried, regretting voting in favor at the end, and blamed Horikita and Ayanokōji, sparking an argument with Karuizawa and others. Horikita nominated herself; eighteenth round: 16 votes in favor. Ayanokōji claimed he would point out the supporter, and if he was wrong, he would expel himself. Kushida expressed concern and trust, but Ayanokōji pointed his finger at Kushida.
Ayanokōji revealed the secret of Kushida's true nature, but everyone disbelieved him and protected her. Kushida continued her facade, asking everyone to expel her. Nineteenth round: 5 votes in favor. Ayanokōji revealed the point transfers to Kushida and the existence of a recording, recounting the conversation. Kushida denied it and counter-accused Ayanokōji of groping her; Ayanokōji refuted this and pointed out that fingerprint collection was unfeasible. Kushida finally snapped and exposed her classmates' secrets. Initially, everyone favored expelling Kushida, but after thinking, Horikita decided to keep her. Due to time pressure, Horikita proposed voting for herself first, getting one vote in favor. Ayanokōji pointed out that Airi Sakura, who had the lowest OAA, should be the one expelled. Hasebe fiercely opposed and proposed expelling herself, receiving three opposing votes from Ayanokōji, Airi, and Miyake. Airi tried to persuade Hasebe, and in the final vote, after Airi Sakura shouted Hasebe's name with 50 seconds overtime, it ended with Airi's expulsion.
Ayanokōji left alone, and Horikita caught up to question him. Finally, Airi said goodbye to Ayanokōji in her idol outfit and left, suppressing her sobs.
Afterwards, Ayanokōji met with Chabashira, and Chabashira explained the situation from back then. Class B, where Chabashira was, was only 73 points behind Class A before facing the graduation exam. After the class leader induced everyone into a war and wanted people to be expelled, Chabashira, who had just become a couple with this leader, consistently opposed it. Afterwards, the two kept protecting each other, but ultimately ended up with a 523-point gap with Class A. Their relationship was announced to be over at the same time the exam ended, and the final graduation exam also failed. After talking with Ayanokōji, Chabashira bid farewell to her past and determined to lead Horikita's class to Class A.

The night before the special exam, Yagami came to find Kushida and told her there might beexpelling someonesuch a task existing, and asked her to cause trouble during the special exam. |
After Chabashira-sensei finished introducing the rules of this special exam (i.e., second-year students must team up with first-year newcomers for the exam, and the total score of the two must reach 501 or more, otherwise the second-year student in the group will be immediately expelled, and the first-year student will have no personal points income for three months), Ayanokōji, having learned from Tsukishiro that there was a White Room junior among the first-year students, decided to observe the first-year newcomers before moving to form a team. It is worth noting that the Student Council represented by Nagumo launched OAA (an app that can view each student's various abilities) at the beginning of the semester. After that, 1st year Class D'sKazuomi Hōsen, who is equivalent to Ryūen as the leader of Class DIn fact, the two knew each other in middle school, and their martial arts prowess was on par, with Hōsen even being stronger, which led to Ryūen not getting into a major fight with Hōsen despite his many provocations., came with Nanase to the door of the 2nd year Class D classroom to provoke Sudō, Horikita, and others. Horikita did not pay much attention to his actions, but afterwards determined to cooperate with 1st year Class D. Since Sudō's overall evaluation was too low, Horikita and Ayanokōji then tried to find someone willing to cooperate with him. They encountered three 1st year Class D students in the mallAll three had good academic ability, so they asked them about the possibility of cooperation, but learned that they had already met with 2nd year Class A and Class C, and those who were asked to team up with them were required to pay 50Actually, according to Ayanokōji's reasoning, these words were ordered by Hōsen.Horikita and Ayanokōji dismissed the possibility of immediately forming a team with the three of them. Afterward, they met Amasawa from Class 1-A, whose condition for teaming up with Sudō was to witness Sudō's fighting prowess. After a compromise, it became witnessing Sudō's cooking skills, and later it became witnessing Ayanokōji's cooking skills.. After making the agreement, they decided that Amasawa would evaluate Ayanokōji's cooking skills one day later. In reality, Amasawa seemed to just be looking for a long-term meal ticket. One day later, with Horikita's assistance, Ayanokouji successfully made the dish specified by AmasawaAlthough Ayanokouji completed it while following Horikita's instructions via wireless earphones, which could be considered cheating, Amasawa agreed to team up with SudouIn the process, she also blackmailed Ayanokouji into buying a bunch of expensive kitchen equipment. After that, Horikita and Nanase continued negotiations, asking her about the possibility of cooperation. After several days of back-and-forth, Housen was finally willing to discuss the matter with them (Sudou also went after pestering Horikita) at a KTV on Sunday. After entering the KTV and going through repeated back-and-forth, Housen's negotiation condition became an immediate payment of 1 million private points, and after that, he would have one chance to ask Class 2-D for help, at which time he would return the 1 million private points collected. Horikita refused, believing that her condition from beginning to end was cooperation and would not use any points to achieve it. Housen refused, but the negotiation did not break down. After that, Housen splashed a glass of water from the table at Horikita, trying to provoke Sudou, but it was not realized under Horikita's restraint. Under Nanase's persuasion, Housen's conditions remained unchanged, so Horikita announced that the negotiations had broken down. After leaving the KTV, Housen and Nanase followed them and called out to them at the last moment, saying that the negotiation condition had changed to paying him 3 million private points now to reach cooperation. Horikita still did not agree. After the negotiation broke down once more, Housen called them again at the last moment and asked them to come behind the dormitory for one last negotiation. The group agreed and went to the designated location. Housen raised the price again, asking for 5 million private points. Horikita flatly refused and intended to return to the dormitory. Since Housen had learned from Nagumo that small-scale fighting was allowed, he attacked Horikita, kicking her directly in the leg to coerce Class 2-D into complying with his conditions. Because Horikita did not react in time, she was kicked down hard by Housen. Sudou was furious and scuffled with Housen. Due to the disparity in strength and Horikita's presence, Sudou was frantically suppressed by Housen and was beaten up. Seeing Ayanokouji's bystander-like expression, Housen took out a knife and coerced the group again, saying that if they didn't follow his conditions, he would kill Ayanokouji immediately. Then, seeing no reaction from them, he held the knifethe kitchen knife that Ayanokouji had bought under Amasawa's coercionand rushed towards Ayanokouji. Ayanokouji also rushed towards Housen. At the most critical moment, when Housen used a feint to deceive Horikita and Sudou, making them think he was going to stab Ayanokouji when in fact he was about to stab his own leg with the knife, Ayanokouji saw through his thoughts and preemptively thrust the knife into his own palm. Later, they learned from the others that Housen's act of feigning a stab at Ayanokouji while actually self-harming was because a mysterious person had placed a bounty of 20 million private points on Ayanokouji, with the condition being Ayanokouji's expulsion. This act of feigning a stab while actually self-harming was the plan of the three first-year students. Later, because Ayanokouji saw through their thoughts and changed the outcome of the matter to Ayanokouji being injured, they had to cooperate with Class 2-D to complete the cross-grade exam.

When Amasawa blackmailed and forced Ayanokouji to buy various kitchen utensils, Ayanokouji began to investigate who else had bought this knife. Based on Karuizawa's investigation, he learned that Housen had previously wanted to buy this knife but was stopped by Amasawa, so he guessed that they had some plan they were hiding from the second-year students. After that, one day Amasawa entered Ayanokouji's room under the pretext of accidentally dropping a hair tie and made off with the knife. According to Ayanokouji's reasoning, they wanted to forge evidence of Ayanokouji harming Housen through Housen's self-harm, thereby getting Ayanokouji expelled. After their plan failed this time, Ayanokouji believed that Housen was most likely not from the White Room, so he requested him to team up with him to complete the exam. |
On the day of the new semester, Chabashira announced that parent-teacher conferences and subsequent three-party conferences would be held next month. For lunch, Ayanokouji was tricked by Horikita and Kushida into tasting a bento made by Ibuki Mio, and his multiple attempts to escape failed. After cautiously tasting it, the three entered the scoring phase: Horikita gave 20 points, Kushida gave 2 points, achieving an average score of 11goodresults. (If you're wondering why there's no score from Ayanokouji, he expressed doubt about Horikita and Kushida's scoring, so he gave an example of whether you would eat this bento if it were the only thing on a deserted island, but was stopped just as he was about to give his score.)"You don't need to give a score anymore. Thank you for providing a metaphor that seems easy to understand yet is very difficult to grasp. In short, I'm well aware that you weren't praising her bento."
Chabashira announced the rules for the special exam: classes will take the exam as attackers and defenders, divided into 20 rounds. In the first ten rounds, Class B attacks Class C, C attacks B, D attacks A, and A attacks B, with the order reversed for the last ten rounds. The attacking side designates five answerers from the defending side (the same person can be designated consecutively), the subject area, and the difficulty (1 point can be used to increase the difficulty). The defending side chooses five people, and those who fail to defend will answer the questions. 1 point is awarded for a correct answer or a successful defense. Those who answer incorrectly three times in a row are eliminated, and each eliminated person deducts 1 point. Each student can exclude three areas they are not good at from 16 subject areas. In addition to the first place receiving 100 class points, the bottom three will have class points deducted, and the last place must choose one person from the eliminated students to be expelled.
Wang Mei-yu asked Ayanokouji to help find the person who had been sending her get-well gifts for several days. Ayanokouji asked the shop assistant and learned it was Kouenji. The next day, Wang Mei-yu wanted to give him a thank-you gift. After the two went to find Kouenji together, he refused to accept the gift. Ayanokouji took the opportunity to ask what would happen if Horikita did not protect him as agreed? Kouenji replied that the only one who can ever protect you is yourself, so Ayanokouji concluded that there was no need to make him a necessary target for defense in the special exam. Kouenji stated that if someone wanted to eliminate him, they should be prepared.
Kanzaki, Ichinose, Watanabe, and Amakura were talking in Ayanokouji's room, but the content was merely cheering each other on and small talk. After the four left, Ichinose returned to get her phone and hugged Ayanokouji using the excuse of tripping, but was caught by the returning Watanabe. After a moment of silence among the three, it ended with Watanabe exchangingWhite Album-ology secrets as the conclusion.
During the first ten rounds of the special exam, Ayanokouji, lacking common knowledge, answered "dog" to the question "What animal kept in zoos stands on two legs and looks very cute, causing heated public discussion for days?", and got it wrong for the first time as the answer was "red panda." Koenji was designated twice in a row and Horikita did not protect him; he left the papers blank and got them wrong twice. When designated for the third time, he answered correctly to avoid elimination and then questioned Horikita, who defended herself by saying, "You have no reason to be eliminated now." After the first half ended, the four classes had a conflict in the cafeteria, and finally, Ryuen left with a subtle expression. In the 12th round, Ayanokouji again left a blank paper for "What is drinking 'Gochiya'?", the answer being drinking pearl milk tea. In the last ten rounds, Ichinose designated Kei Karuizawa every time, and Ryuen completely blocked all of Sakayanagi's attacks; Sakayanagi already knew there was a traitor in the class but took no measures. In the end, Sakayanagi's class came in last place, with five people eliminated: Masumi Kamuro, Miki Yamamura, Dai Sugio, Shigeru Toba, and Koji Machida. Ai Morishita proposed deciding the expellee by drawing lots. Sugio, Toba, and Machida drew good lots to avoid expulsion, leaving only Yamamura and Kamuro; ultimately, Masumi Kamuro drew the lot and was expelled.
Final Results
1st Place: Ryuen's Class D - 69 points
2nd Place: Ichinose's Class C - 62 points
3rd Place: Horikita's Class B - 59 points
4th Place: Sakayanagi's Class A - 53 points

The traitor is Masayoshi Hashimoto. Hashimoto conspired with Ryuen, using other classes' phones hidden somewhere in the classroom to transmit information to Ryuen during the last ten rounds. After the exam began, Ichinose proposed to Ryuen that if they didn't allow any eliminations in their own class, Ryuen's class would be guaranteed 25 points. Ryuen instead had Ichinose accept points given by his class, promising he wouldn't let any eliminations "What do you even know about Ayanokōji-kun?" What right does a commoner who doesn't even know Ayanokōji's background have to talk about him? "It won't change. Both Ryūen-kun and I look forward to fighting strong rivals. We have almost no obsession with graduating from Class A." |

Ayanokouji attends a two-party interview and, after some meaningless conversation, learns thatAtsuomi AyanokōjiHe finds it strange that his father will attend the three-party interview in person, as Ayanokouji Atsuomi had previously said they wouldn't meet at school again after their last meeting. Upon inquiry, he learns that his father decided to attend only after seeing the schedule, and instructed Chabashira to notify him of any schedule changes, including those for other students. Ayanokouji asks for the schedule and leaves. On his way back, he finds Hashimoto waiting in front of his door. They enter the room together, and after Hashimoto puts on an act, Ayanokouji exposes him and asks for his reason for betrayal. Hashimoto says it was to convince Sakayanagi to scout Ayanokouji for Class A. Ayanokouji points out that he never explicitly stated he wanted to join Class A, and that Hashimoto lacks the strength of Sakayanagi or Ryuuen yet trusts no one, making an enemy of Sakayanagi without a backup plan. After the conversation, they encounter Morishita Ai."Yo, Ayanokouji, and the traitor Hashimoto."andThe one who was monitoring Hashimoto at the stairwell earlier wasYamamura Miki. The four of them go to the convenience store and run into Kiryuuin Fuka. Kiryuuin asks and learns the three are Class A students; she praises Ayanokouji and says she will remember the three of them.
This exchange and cooperation is not a special exam, so there will be no change in class points. Participation is not mandatory. All groups will receive 1,000 to 30,000 private points (non-transferable) per person based on their ranking. Each third-year class sends five people as group leaders, while first and second-year students are randomly assigned, forming 20 groups of about 17 to 18 people each. Nineteen matches are held over three days: five on the first day and seven on each of the following two days. A round-robin tournament for the twenty groups is held, with five people from each group selected for one-on-one matches; the group that reaches three wins first wins the match.
After meeting with his group, Ayanokouji finds himself in the same group as Hashimoto, Yamamura, and Morishita. Nagumo calls Ayanokouji over and demands that he participate in all games and lose no more than twice individually. If successful, Nagumo will give Ayanokouji a significant amount of private points; there is no penalty for losing. Nagumo only wants to see Ayanokouji's defeat. Kiryuuin does not interfere, and the three Class A students in the same group were also chosen by Kiryuuin. After returning to his room, Ayanokouji informs Hashimoto of the situation.
The first match on the first day is pressed flower art, and Ayanokouji is the only male. After being coached by Hiyori,He wins individually, and the group wins 3-2. During the break, Inogashira Kokoro asks Ayanokouji to persuade Kouenji to return to the team. The persuasion fails, and the two have a conversation, both believing they can defeat the other."You've already understood that no one can control me, right? So why do you bother with me?" "Even knowing it's useless, I can't help but try. That's because—" "Because as soon as you step away from the class, you won't be able to protect Horikita-girl. Am I right?"
Matches two through five are pottery, billiards (x2), and accessory making. Nagumo sends Takahashi to confirm Ayanokouji's wins and losses. By the end of the first day, both Ayanokouji individually and the group have achieved five wins. That night, he learns that Ryuuen's group has two losses and Sakayanagi's group has three. He also learns from Sanada Kosei that Sakayanagi neither participated nor gave instructions. Horikita and Ibuki ask Ayanokouji to help train them, as they want to take revenge on Amasawa early on the final day. Hashimoto stops a fight between Kouenji and Tatebayashi. The first-year students are impressed by Ayanokouji because the eccentric Kouenji is his classmate.
Early the next morning, Horikita says Amasawa wants to move the time up by one day. Ayanokouji refuses this condition and has the two fight Amasawa two-on-one. Later, Ayanokouji still holds the upper hand while training the two using only his left hand within a one-meter diameter circle. During breakfast group conversation, the first-year boys' respect for Ayanokouji seems to be due to the "T-Rex." Later, Ayanokouji encounters Sakayanagi and learns she has no intention of commanding this training camp. Then Amasawa rushes out to mock Sakayanagi but is blocked by Kitou and leaves. The sixth match is carving; he wins individually, and the group wins 3-2. The seventh match is poker; everyone loses, marking Ayanokouji's first defeat. The eighth match is chalk drawing; he wins individually, and the group wins 3-2. The ninth match is golf; he wins individually, but the group loses 1-4. The tenth match is patchwork; Ayanokouji faces Inogashira and suffers his second defeat, and the group suffers its third defeat. The 11th match is archery.Morishita Ai takes the initiative to participate but misses all targets. And the 12th match is glass crafting; both the group and he individually win.
In the evening, Ryuen caused trouble for Tokito because Tokito had contacted Sakayanagi; Hosen and Utomiya appeared to rescue Tokito. A fight was about to break out when others were drawn in, ending the disturbance. After Albert took a punch from Hosen, he said Hosen's strength could rival Ayanokouji's, but Ryuen mocked him, saying Hosen wasn't worthy of comparison. Meanwhile, everyone in Ayanokouji's group was playing Old Maid in the girls' room.
Early on the third morning, Ibuki used the excuse of going to the bathroom to take a detour and launch a failed sneak attack on Ayanokouji. Ayanokouji accused her of doing the same thing Ishizaki did. When questioned by Horikita, Ayanokouji tried to brush it off, but it turned out Horikita knew about the rooftop incident. Ayanokouji turned to look at Ibuki, who argued that she never said she would keep it a secret.
The 11th event was Shogi. Morishita said she had absolute confidence in Shogi but was late to arrive. Ayanokouji went to find her, and after Morishita teased him for a while, the two talked about Hashimoto and Sakayanagi. Morishita's Shogi was indeed very good. Ayanokouji won consecutively from the 11th to the 16th event. The 17th event was archery again, Ayanokouji vs. Amasawa. Amasawa shot first, scoring 9, 10, 9, 9, 10, totaling 57 points, while Ayanokouji scored 8, 10, 10, 10, 10, totaling 58 points to win. The group lost 1-4, with Morishita only getting 6 points. The group finished with 15 wins and 4 losses, ranking fourth. Ayanokouji had 17 wins and 2 losses. After receiving his reward from Nagumo, he asked Nagumo to pass a message to someone. In the evening, he encouraged Yamamura, who was hiding by a vending machine.
On the morning of the fourth day, after seeing the message Nagumo sent in the middle of the night saying "I won't say thank you," Ayanokouji met Sakurako Tsubaki. Looking at the melting snow, Tsubaki asked Ayanokouji if he liked snow and what it would be like if he had a long-lost sibling. However, at this time, Ayanokouji did not realize what Tsubaki meant.Later, Tsubaki left because of Kushida's arrival. Ayanokouji met Sakayanagi on a bench, persuaded her, and supported her as she walked to Yamamura before leaving

The content of the conversation between Ayanokouji and Hashimoto; the real reason Hashimoto betrayed Sakayanagi was the bet made between Sakayanagi and Ryuen: the loser of the year-end special exam would voluntarily drop out, ignoring Sakayanagi's protection points. Even if it ends in a draw, it would be decided by drawing lots like Kamuro. The two also sought Mashima and Sakagami to witness the bet after the training camp. Hashimoto wanted to bring Ayanokouji to Class A but was rejected by Sakayanagi, leading him to betray her. Now realizing that if Ryuen loses, he will also be in danger, he has no choice but to assist Ryuen. The person Ayanokouji wanted Nagumo to pass a message to was Amasawa. Amasawa originally intended to drop out after beating up Nagumo in the middle of the night. After Nagumo told Amasawa that Ayanokouji said "You still have value, don't throw it away pointlessly," Amasawa stood frozen in place, and Nagumo returned to his room. |

Chabashira announces the rules for the end-of-year special exam: Opposing classes: Year 2 Class A vs Year 2 Class C, Year 2 Class B vs Year 2 Class D. Within the time limit, each class must select 3 representatives (at least one male and one female), who will compete in an elimination match in the order of Vanguard → Center → General. The Vanguard, Center, and General receive 5, 7, and 10 life points respectively; the class whose life points are completely depleted is considered defeated. There are no draws, and the exam will be extended if necessary. Classes with fewer than 35 participants will pay 5 Class Points for each missing person, while those with more will be rewarded 5 points per person. The winning class receives 200 Class Points, while Horikita's class can receive 250 points due to the Unanimous Special Exam. Other rules are unknown at this time. After school, Ayanokouji intentionally refuses Karuizawa's request to stay over and informs her that he will meet with the leaders of the four classes.
First is Horikita. Ayanokouji requests to be the General and proposes the following conditions: if Horikita loses but Ayanokouji wins the exam, she will no longer receive Ayanokouji's assistance; if both Horikita and Ayanokouji lose, she will receive Ayanokouji's assistance for half a year; if Horikita defeats the opponent's General as the Center, the status quo remains unchanged. Upon leaving, he is approached by Hasebe, who tries to restore the Ayanokouji Group's relationship, but Amasawa comes to cause trouble; Hasebe leaves, and Ayanokouji asks Amasawa to investigate Nanase. The conversation with Ryuuen was nothing importantAnyway, he didn't get splashed with juice, stating he will show his strength to Sakayanagi and A

After Ayanokouji went out with Ryuuen, Hoshinomiya caught up and asked Ayanokouji to concede the victory to Class D, offering any reward he wanted; Ayanokouji refused, and the conversation with Ryuuen skipped to.

Afterward, Ichinose defeated Horikita with full HP.
Round 6: Ayanokouji proposed to Ichinose that both sides waive their traitor identification rights and let the opponent decide the traitor for their own class. Ichinose chose Amakura, while Ayanokouji chose Maezono, leaving Amakura for last so Class D would get 50 points. To put on an act, they called out unrelated students for questioning in the first two rounds and showed each other information obtained from the traitors, such as Mitarai being an ordinary student. In the third round, Maezono was called out and denied it. Ayanokouji exposed the fact that she leaked information about Ayanokouji participating as the General to her boyfriend Hashimoto Masayoshi, and that at the beginning of the year, at Hashimoto's request, she gathered some students to discuss Ayanokouji's hidden strength to cause chaos among classmates and then reported the information to Hashimoto. He identified her as the traitor, and Maezono was expelled. Afterward, he explained that his purpose for proposing to waive the traitor rights was to eliminate Maezono. He revealed that the spreading of Ichinose's past a year ago was also orchestrated by him, including the promise from a year ago—he had just been using her all along. Ichinose broke down, and Ayanokouji easily won the exam.

When Hasebe spoke to him, Ayanokouji had Amasawa come over, stating, "I just don't want to waste time on worthless things." As for the battle between Ryuuen and Sakayanagi, skip toArisu Sakayanagi#Representative Arc |
After the special exam ended, Ayanokouji explained to the class the reason for Maezono's expulsion. One day during the break, while heading to Keyaki Mall, Ayanokouji encountered Matsushita, Wang Mei-Yui, and Onodera. After a brief exchange with these three, he went to a cafe to meet Hoshinomiya, stating that he could now consider the conditions Hoshinomiya proposed before the exam."—Ah? Are you serious? You want to sleep with me, so you're going to betray the class?" Hoshinomiya-sensei's wording was quite shocking, her gaze contemptuous, making it completely unimaginable that she was the one who initiated the proposal.Hoshinomiya refused, stating she would reach Class A with her own strength, only to turn around and see the homeroom teachers of the other three classes. Jumping back to before the meeting with Hoshinomiya (the conversation with Matsushita and the others was at 10:30, while the meeting with Hoshinomiya was at 12:17), Ayanokouji had asked Chabashira out. After Sakagami and Mashima arrived, they all realized they weren't alone with Ayanokouji. Mashima lectured him."Listen well, Ayanokouji. As a student of this school—" "I've already finished gathering information on Ms. Akiyama." "I'll let you off this time, but be careful next time."To explain Hoshinomiya's outrageous behavior to the three (She wanted me to go easy. She said she especially didn't want to lose to Chabashira-sensei. As a reward, she said she'd do anything she could, would reveal special exam info in advance, and even hinted at paying with her body.), Ayanokouji feigned a conversation with Hoshinomiya to prove it. Learning that Hoshinomiya still held a grudge over Chabashira's past actions, and after the five-way exchange yielded no results, Mashima suggested giving Hoshinomiya some time. Ayanokouji stated he would resolve the matter during spring break.
March 30th, the day of the promise with Ichinose. In the morning, Ishizaki......using dating Hiyori as a lure......invited him to transfer to their class, but Ayanokouji refused. At 10:00, after Ayanokouji and Karuizawa watched their last movie together, the two broke up (see details inKei Karuizawa#Sophomore Spring Break Arc). Afterward, Ayanokouji spent the rest of the time in his room, but Ichinose never showed up. At 10:30, after curfew, Ayanokouji went to Ichinose's room. Ayanokouji made a proposal: he would transfer to her class, but Ichinose would have to drop out, and he would guarantee the class reaches Class A. Ichinose believed neither answer was correct. On March 31st, Ayanokouji, Morishita, and Yamamura saw Sakayanagi off. Sakayanagi made two requests to Ayanokouji: first, she hoped Ayanokouji......would give her a kiss.meeting her after graduation, and second, she hopes he will adjudicate class affairs involving Hashimoto and others. After deleting the photos taken during the second-year sports festival, Ayanokouji pulled Sakayanagi into an embrace. After Sakayanagi left, Ayanokouji informed the two of Sakayanagi's proposal for him to intervene in the former Class A. Later, Negishi from the first year delivered Nagumo Miyabi's phone number.
On April 1st, the three-way interview took place. Ayanokouji Atsuomi cooperated in finishing the performance. Afterward, they discussed Ayanokouji's arrangements after graduation and the disposal of Amasawa and Yagami. Then, he greeted Koenji's father who had arrived; it turned outAtsuomi Ayanokōjithe purpose of coming to the three-way interview was to contact Koenji's father of the Citizen's Party as a member of the Kyoei Party. Later, Koenji proactively approached Ayanokouji for a talk to take precautions, stating he already understood the idea of transferring classes to maintain the four-way struggle between classes. Afterward, Ayanokouji provoked Koenji using Wang Mei-Yu's expulsion.
One day later, Horikita talked with Ayanokouji about planning a celebration party for the whole class, and incidentally asked about Ayanokouji's breakup and his state after the exam. Ayanokouji joked, "I'm a free man now, do you want to sign up as a candidate for my lover?" Horikita responded with a glare. After they parted ways, Horikita realized her feelings for Ayanokouji.
With the new semester approaching, the celebration party began after the classroom was decorated as the new 2nd-year Class B. Near the end, Ayanokouji handed Horikita a cup of tea. The students in the class began speaking about their future goals. After Ayanokouji asked Horikita about her goal, she asked him back. Ayanokouji stated he couldn't say yet. Horikita leaned close to Ayanokouji in dissatisfaction and then shyly looked away. When she turned back to state another goal, Ayanokouji had already vanished.
After the official start of the semester, Chabashira and Hoshinomiya headed to their respective classrooms together. Hoshinomiya stated that Ayanokouji had successfully persuaded her. As for how he did it: "In little Sae's hand, that necessary Joker that would allow you to win is no longer there," she said, then closed the door to Class D's classroom. A faculty member arrived to inform a dazed Chabashira about someone's class transfer. On the other side, under the gaze of the Class C students, Ayanokouji walked into the classroom.

Left: The protagonist of this work. From the moment of his birth, he received a thorough education in a facility called the White Room. He possesses extremely high physical abilities and intellect, as well as a calm and thorough side. When he first enrolled, he was an inconspicuous student, but during his second year, he gradually demonstrated his strength and began to attract attention. Taking the promotion to the third year as an opportunity, he transferred to a new class for his own purposes.
Class A: Horikita's Class
Class B: Ryuen's Class
Class C: Ayanokouji's Class (Transferred)
Class D: Ichinose's Class
In the new semester, Horikita's class was promoted to Class A, but Ayanokouji was late to class. The whole class was informed by a dazed Chabashira that Ayanokouji had transferred to Class C (formerly Sakayanagi's class). Later, Horikita and Matsushita, along with two groups consisting of Sudo, Hirata, Ike, Miyake, and Keisei, went to ask Ayanokouji and received the reply that he had transferred voluntarily. Hashimoto, Morishita, Ichinose, and Ayanokouji met; Class C and Class D formed an alliance, agreeing that when the two classes were in opposition, victory would be given to the side with the lower score. Ayanokouji sat in the seat in front of Morishita Ai. Hashimoto, Morishita, and others supported him becoming the class leader, but this was not widely accepted, so Ayanokouji was allowed to temporarily lead this special exam to observe his abilities.
During a certain class, Morishita Ai flicked eraser crumbs at the back of Ayanokouji's head. He turned around multiple times but found no evidence. With the assistance of Shiraishi Asuka, he turned around early and discovered the eraser hidden in Morishita Ai's hand.
The exam is divided into whole-class battles and small-group battles. Small-group battles are participated in by five people, comparing scores based on ranking. Whole-class battles compare the total sum of everyone's scores (counting as two wins, with a draw counting as one win each). There are seven matches in total, and the side with more wins overall wins (a 3-3-1 result is a draw for both sides). The winner receives 100 Class Points, and a tie splits them; seven wins add an extra 50, and seven losses deduct an extra 50. Additionally, each class starts with 100 penalty points (1 point can be obtained for an additional 50,000 Private Points) to deduct from the opponent class's students (only effective in small-group battles, and must be decided before knowing the opponent's participants). The class battles are Class A vs Class D, and Class B vs Class C. As a result, Ayanokouji not only failed to guess any of the participants from Ryuuen's class for the small-group battles, but he also scored 0 points himself and lost to Ishizaki Daichi. While Class C's victory was a matter of course, this special exam did not prove that Ayanokouji has the ability to lead the class.
| “ | In the end, even though I've left the White Room, I'm still inside it, aren't I? I never neglect the preparations made to protect myself. Even though such things shouldn't be necessary for a student's life. …… Facing attacks from various opponents, I take action and set up insurance to prevent any unforeseen circumstances. No matter what happens to others, as long as I win in the end, that's all that matters. ...I feel like I won't be able to discard this fundamental way of thinking until the day I die. |

| “ | Now, for the first time, I feel as if my heart has been filtered. The existence known as the heart has indeed grown unexpectedly over this past year. No, it is still growing even now. My heart is indeed growing. I tell myself this. But it has no effect. It's as if mere imagination doesn't have any impact on oneself. It seems that it's not just the coating sealing my heart that is peeling away. I can't help but feel a certain black substance, something like anxiety. Will I—will I still be at this school at this time next year?—This indescribable darkness—envelops me deeply. |

| “ | There are certainly people more excellent than me in this world; if you ask why, it's because there are as many as 7 billion humans living in this world. However, it's different in the White Room. In that world, there is no one more excellent than me. |
