Since the Hachiman deity is the ancestral god of the Japanese Emperor, there are many place names corresponding to the surname "Yahata." SinceNyamu Yutenji's surname "Yutenji" is taken from the Yutenji area in Meguro Ward, Tokyo, it is speculated that Yahata Umiri's surname might also be taken from the former Yahata-cho (now in Nakameguro-cho) or the Himonya Hachimangu Shrine in Meguro Ward (Meguro Ward is the center of Hachiman faith in that region).
In her early years, she had experience forming a band. One day, she received news that they could perform on camera. Everyone had agreed to participate as the first step toward becoming a formal band, but on that day, only Umiri showed up to perform, having been stood up by the others. Umiri believed this was because she was too overbearing with band matters, causing resentment. Consequently, she began supporting multiple bands while remaining indifferent to their internal affairs, believing that this would allow her to numb herself.

EnrollmentHanasakigawa Girls' Academy, consistent withUika Misumi、Taki ShiinaIn the same class, she takes good care of Taki. Outside of school, she works part-time as a bassist for over thirty bands, including DISRUPTION. Once, she caught Taki drumming on a classroom desk early in the morning and reached out to catch the panda-patterned chocolate-flavored panna cotta drink that Taki had knocked over (Panda(is Taki's favorite animal), asked Taki if she was in a band, and guessed that Taki forming a band was a "reconciliation."
When Taki was depressed over composing, she told Taki, "I'm actually a bit envious that you can be depressed over your own band's matters," and placed a box of the same brand's mandarin-flavored drink on Taki's head.
Taki and the bassistSoyo Nagasakiafter their argument, in order to let the band continue practicing, Taki requested Umiri to serve as a support bassist for the band, with the reward being the same drink. After playing together for a while, Umiri discovered thatTomori Takamatsuthey still couldn't let go of Soyo and refused to play together, so she tactfully told Taki to "come find her after they've talked it over" before leaving, and encouraged Tomori by saying "I'll be rooting for you."
During MyGO!!!!!'s third full-member Live, she accompaniedMutsumi Wakabato watch the performance. After Wakaba Mutsumi broke down, she comforted her and reminded Mutsumi to "take her time considering" joiningAve Mujicathis "lifelong thing."

In Ave Mujica, Umiri is responsible for arranging the members' schedules, while still serving as a support bassist for her original bands.
During the Budokan concert (Nostri Nosctis), regardingNyamu Yutenjithe act of removing the masks, she remained calm. Using DISRUPTION's need for practice as an excuse, she quickly left the venue after the concert ended and did not participate in the discussions among the band members. She also appears relatively calm in other discussions and events involving Ave Mujica.
After returning to school, Umiri slipped away as soon as class ended to avoid being stared at by her classmates; only Taki could find her. When Taki threw her school bag directly at her face, she caught it with both hands, keeping her carton of panna cotta drink from falling using only the straw in her mouth.Taki complained a bit about her forming a band with Sakiko, and from this, Umiri learned that Taki had known Sakiko for a long time.
Regarding Nyamu's complaint that her popularity was lower than Umiri's, she humorously returned the line Nyamu used when taking off her mask: "Because this face of mine is also quite beautiful." At the first stop of the national tour (Continuatio Festi), while the other members were shocked by Mutsumi's collapse, Umiri remained very calm on stage. In the heat of the moment, Sakiko covered up the performance accident with an improvisation, allowing them to leave the stage safely. The next day in the practice room, Umiri informed everyone that the program "Music Space" and the agency wanted Mutsumi to recreate that performance. During the argument between Sakiko and Nyamu, she decided to wait until Ui-ika was present before making a decision.
At the Sendai stop of the tour, Mutsumi did not recreate that "performance," leading to another heated argument between Sakiko and Nyamu at Sendai Station. When Sakiko accused Nyamu of being the irresponsible one due to a lack of practice, Umiri chimed in, stating she never felt Nyamu lacked practice; rather, it was Sakiko herself who hadn't paid much attention to the members' situations. After the train arrived in Tokyo, Umiri reminded a dazed Mutsumi that she was going the wrong way, but Mutsumi did not react.
Due to immense pressure, Mutsumi's personality was consumed by Mortis, and while the band's atmosphere improved, Umiri still noticed the abnormality in everyone. Busy with band affairs, Umiri fell behind in her studies; when she sought out Taki outside the classroom to borrow notes, they discussed the band, and Taki mentioned rumors of Mujica's impending disbandment. Umiri stated the issue was "resolved," and the progress was "like a sparkler before it burns out." At the Fukuoka stop, Mortis confessed she couldn't play guitar at all. Umiri suggested finding a support member, but Sakiko refused. Nyamu then proposed disbanding the band. As Mortis desperately opposed it, Umiri sighed and remarked helplessly, "Disbanding is only a matter of time; bands that can last are the minority." Ultimately, the members except for Mortis accepted Nyamu's proposal, and they announced the final act of Ave Mujica at the Fukuoka performance.
After Ave Mujica announced their disbandment, Umiri remained very calm. She thanked Sakiko for her efforts and left the venue, refusing interviews from reporters. When Ui-ika asked Umiri about Sakiko's whereabouts, Umiri bluntly replied, "Why don't you just ask her yourself?" After learning about Mutsumi's current state, Taki called Umiri out to ask about it. Umiri responded coldly, "She was the catalyst for the disbandment," and showed no reaction to the fact that no one had cared about Mutsumi for a month. Dissatisfied with Umiri's lack of action, Taki left with the parting words, "Are you really a member of Mujica?" leaving behind a confused and slightly annoyed Umiri: "What is she even trying to say?"[5]
During the rehearsal time before MyGO!!!!!'s performance, Umiri arrived at the venue and saw the former CRYCHIC members gathered and playing on stage, showing a half-annoyed expression. When Sakiko and Mutsumi walked into the hall, Umiri stopped them, "congratulated" them on reconciling with their old friends, and questioned: "Are you willing to reconcile with me?" However, Sakiko rejected the request to reform Ave Mujica. After returning to school, Taki found Umiri, and from their conversation, Umiri learned about the day's events. When asked if they were going to reform the old band (CRYCHIC), Taki stated that CRYCHIC was over. Umiri then mentioned her rejected attempt to reform Ave Mujica, to which Taki pointed out: "After all, Umiri, you aren't trustworthy."

Umiri tried to ponder the meaning of those words. While supporting DISRUPTION, she asked the members if she really wasn't trustworthy, but both felt she was. Utterly perplexed, Umiri dropped her bass at the RiNG cafe for Taki to look after, then went on a shopping spree at the mall, carrying so many things on her arms that they looked like spread-out wings of light. While shopping, she encountered a clothing brand endorsed by Nyamu and immediately called her. While Nyamu pretended she was still on a deserted island, Umiri had already charged to the agency's entrance.
After calling Nyamu out, the two chatted in a cafe, and after downing a super sour ginger ale in one goand forcibly suppressed the urge to burp, she mentioned how her plan to reform Ave Mujica was rejected by Sakiko and Mutsumi. She also talked about her past, admitting she felt jealous of CRYCHIC when she saw their final performance. Nyamu felt that Umiri taking initiative was something she had never seen before, which made Umiri realize what it meant to be "untrustworthy." Umiri tried to recruit Nyamu to reform Ave Mujica, but Nyamu demanded that Umiri at least get Mutsumi on board. Umiri sent a reformation invitation to the group chat on the spot and left. On her way out, she found that Mutsumi had replied to the message in the reformation group, so she brought Mutsumi to her home. From their conversation, it was revealed that Mortis did not want to disappear and decided to revive Ave Mujica. Umiri then had Mortis try miming and persuaded her to "become the real thing."
After Taki learned that Sakiko wanted to reform CRYCHIC for Mutsumi's sake, she tried everything to stop Umiri and asked what she had done to Mutsumi. Just as Umiri was confused by the situation, Uika suddenly appeared, stating she wanted to reform Ave Mujica, and then abruptly left. Using Uika's nonsensical declaration, Umiri successfully silenced Taki with the line, "What did *you* do?"
Using Mutsumi as leverage, Umiri went directly to Nyamu's house to discuss reforming Ave Mujica. However, Nyamu, who was still troubled about her future, still didn't trust Umiri and kicked her out. An annoyed Umiri received a message from Mortis and went home to check on Mortis's performance progress, concluding she still needed improvement. When Umiri left on the pretext of attending a DISRUPTION rehearsal, Mortis's words, "But I practiced so hard," made Umiri waver.
The members of Ave Mujica gathered at RiNG to resolve Sakiko's issues. Facing Sakiko's theory that "to make Mutsumi happy, Mortis cannot be allowed to reform Ave Mujica," Umiri countered sharply, "Is happiness even necessary?" and "...Both of them can live; if they can't live, what happiness is there to speak of?" She also accused Sakiko of leaving Mortis to die. Seeing Sakiko's stubbornness, Umiri dropped a bombshell—she had quit all her support bands—and tearfully pleaded for Sakiko's trust. Mortis tried to play the role of Mutsumi to end the dispute but broke down in tears when Nyamu exposed her. After Soyo led Mortis away, Umiri wanted to stay and continue the argument but was dragged away by Taki, who told her to go to Mutsumi's house and keep her company. Umiri found this decision baffling. After spending a few idle days at Mutsumi's house, she asked Taki what was going on, and Taki felt that "this is how it should be."
In this way, Umiri waited at Mutsumi's house for Sakiko to change her mind. After the band reformed, she resumed her role as the schedule coordinator. However, Uika and Sakiko both disappeared later, causing a worried Umiri to call Sakiko and ask if she was still untrustworthy. When Uika returned, she brought a pack of milk pudding for Taki to apologize, but just as she was about to speak, she was caught red-handed by a jealous Umiri. At the concert (Ave Mujica Mythologia), the five members performed their respective journeys through a stage play.
