Can you hear my voice?
Can you hear my voice?
A desolate star that has lost its light somewhere in the universe..
A desolate star somewhere in the universe, that has lost its light..
An unidentified girl is standing in front of the star tree
A mysterious girl standing in front of the Star Tree
When she started playing beautifully with a mysterious instrument, the dead tree shined
When she plays a mysterious instrument, the withered tree emits light
The desolate stars turn blue.
Those desolate stars gradually turn blue.
Thanks to her, I ask her many questions, but the only thing that comes back is her name
I asked her many questions, but the only thing I don't know is her name
I didn't know anything else.
Everything else, I don't know either.
She was only known as a guardian of stars who wandered the universe and saved the stars.
She is only known as the guardian of the stars
I didn't know about the rest
The rest, I don't know
She is called by several names. Kalpa, Savior, Apocalypse, etc...
Everyone calls her by different names: Kalpa, Savior, Apocalypse...
The instrument she plays is made of light, so the shape is unknown, but it seems that only she can play.
Her instrument is made of light, so no one else has seen its appearance, and it seems only she can use it.

Guide Mission: Beginner missions, added in the 2.0 major update. Regardless of the player's familiarity with the game, all must be completed to unlock or continue using the Shop, Ranking Mode, Constellation Mode, Story Mode, and Laboratory Mode (after the update, these 5 entrances are all locked and can only be unlocked by completing beginner missions one by one). After the 3rd anniversary, these 5 entrances became open by default.
Periodic Missions: Periodic missions, divided into daily missions, weekly missions, season pass missions, and event missions.
Daily missions refresh at 9:00 AM daily; weekly missions refresh at 9:00 AM every Friday. Each type has five tasks to complete. Weekly missions are fixed as: complete 25 daily missions, play 30 times in Free/Ad Play, play 30 times with health bar mod, tap 15,000 notes, and obtain 50,000 energy. Completing all daily missions rewards 40 Dark Matter + 10 Dark Matter / 30 Astral Melody; completing all weekly missions rewards 10 Star Fragments + 150 Dark Matter + 50 Astral Melody.
Season pass missions refresh once per season; event missions open irregularly with events. Playing earns corresponding season pass experience and event points.
Performer Level
The player's leveling system, leveled up by playing songs. Each level up rewards songs, character stories, items, and currency.
Upon reaching every level that is a multiple of 5, a special mission must be completed before continuing to level up. Completing each special mission rewards the player with a one-hour membership trial ticket.
Reward songs from the leveling system are located in the KALPA and Daybreak song packs; some songs were transferred from other song packs. If a player already owned a song before the Performer Level system was implemented, a different reward is given upon reaching that level.

Character System
All in-game characters can be found in the Collection tab on the right side of the game interface; in the old version, this was called Constellation mode.
In the old version, characters were divided into four categories: Origin Of Stars, Guardians, Lives Of Stars, and Another World. Origin Of Stars contains Kalpa, Noah, Mero, and Aste; Guardians currently has 12 guardians across 11 zodiac signs; Lives Of Stars contains four mascots; Another World contains collaboration characters. In the new version, characters are no longer listed by category, but the arrangement order still follows the above category order.
On the character page, you can select a character as your display character; each character has their own story and skill.
Playing songs with a selected character levels them up. Upon reaching certain levels, you can choose to promote them. The first two tiers unlock character stories, the third tier unlocks character skills, and the fourth tier unlocks that character's sticker. Additionally, on the character page, you can change that character's skin and view their favorite songs; playing favorite songs earns more experience.
Game Modes
KALPA uses a traditional 5-key drop-style game mode. Main play modes include Free Play, Ad Play, Ranking Mode (Dark Areanow Dark Moon), Mero Lab, Story Mode (Noah), and Stage Mode (Lana's Albumplay). The main game screen contains entrances to each mode.
Free Play: Play unlocked songs and charts without restrictions. On the song selection screen in this mode, the left side displays the song illustration; the lower-right corner of the illustration shows the song duration. If the chart has speed changes, a speed change indicator appears in the lower-left corner. To the right of the illustration are the Favorite and Leaderboard buttons, used to add the song to "Favorite Songs" and to view the score leaderboard for the current song and difficulty.
Ad Play: You can watch ads to trial songs you don't own. Songs rotate weekly, with each rotation including 25 songs. There are 10 daily ad play opportunities; watching one ad lets you play one song, and watching another ad after completing it saves your score, which counts toward Abyss, Chaos, and Cosmos difficulty unlocks.
Old Ranking Mode (Dark Area):Unlocked after completing Beginner Mission 1-7.Similar to a dan (rank) mode; costs 40 Astral Melody per play. In this mode, you can select up to 5 song packs (including Dark Extension packs) and the desired difficulty. The game randomly selects three songs at the chosen difficulty and presents them to the player for consecutive play (songs are randomized first; if a song doesn't have that difficulty, its highest available difficulty is shown instead). Reward multipliers are also displayed. If unsatisfied with the random result, you can spend 500 Energy to re-randomize. Dark Extension pack songs may appear (playable for free even without owning the pack); the probability depends on the number of packs selected. During gameplay, the health bar MOD displays "DARK MODE" and cannot be switched; the actual effect is a weakened Risk health bar (-6%/Miss, originally -15%/Miss)Increases survival rate when randomly mashing. After completing a full play, you receive a certain amount of Dark Matter, Energy, and season pass points. Your score is added to the Ranking Mode total score and automatically enters the current season's global rankings.
The relationship between the number of selected packs, Dark Extension pack song appearance probability, and Dark Matter multiplier can be found in the table below:

Season Rankings: A player's Ranking Mode total score for the current season enters the global rankings, displayed at the pack selection screen (top 100 shows rank number; otherwise shows percentage). The ranking screen shows the top 100 players' and your own single-play highest score, single-play highest accuracy, and Ranking Mode total score. There are three leaderboards; players can receive rewards from each leaderboard once, for a total of three times. At season end, Dark Matter is distributed as rewards based on rankings, as shown below:

Note: Related icons/titles/frames will be reclaimed 9 hours before the end of the next season's tournament. This is basically borrowing, not giving, kora
Ranking Mode (Dark Moon): Added in version 3.0.33 to replace Dark Area. Every 2 weeks, 4 fixed songs at fixed difficulties are given, with difficulty increasing sequentially. Health bar mod is mandatory; the next song only unlocks after Risk Clearing the previous one. When you don't own the song, each play costs 60/300/600 Astral Melody; half price when owned. Clearing all 4 songs earns 1/3/5 Darkmoon Coins per clear. When all 4 are cleared at least once with 98%+ accuracy, a hidden difficulty is unlocked (a new chart that didn't exist before, essentially an addition). Each play costs 10 Darkmoon Coins; after clearing 10 times, it becomes available in Free Play. But if you don't own the corresponding song, you still can't play it after the season ends. Ranking is based on the cumulative score of these 4 songs plus 1% of the hidden difficulty score. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-100th place receive different icons and titles; currently no other rewards.Who would spend 3,000 Astral Melody to play 110 rounds in 2 weeks just to unlock one chart when there are no rewards?. Character skills previously related to Dark Area are currently all ineffective; Darkmoon Coins do not reset with season updates.
Laboratory Mode (Mero Lab):Unlocked after completing Beginner Mission 3-1.In Laboratory Mode, players can select a song pack and complete corresponding lab tasks (including play counts, completing daily/weekly missions, etc.). After all lab tasks are completed, the corresponding song pack is unlocked. Since daily missions only refresh 5 per day, unlocking a song pack in Laboratory Mode can take up to 12 days. While the minimum can be 0 days. To immediately obtain a song pack in the laboratory, you can also choose to spend Star Fragments or Dark Matter to request Aste's HelpWhich is basically skipping, and the song pack will be immediately unlocked. Each song in the laboratory song packs has a corresponding story; seeKALPA/Laboratory Mode Story List
If you want to switch the song pack currently being unlocked, you need to interrupt the current pack's unlocking. The unlocking progress of an interrupted pack is preserved.
After unlocking a song pack, if there is a "LINKED MELODY" indicator to the right, tapping it opens a song selection list—for example, the Phigros collaboration lists all contributed songs on this side. Each play costs 5,000 Energy, but only Normal through S·Hard+ difficulties are available.F r e e p a i d s o n g s
Story Mode (Noah):Unlocked after completing Beginner Mission 2-5.A new mode added for the 1st anniversary. In this mode, a certain amount of Energy is needed to unlock story chapters, after which songs within chapters are unlocked in sequence.
For a song, the title and composer are displayed as garbled text before unlocking. The unlocking method is to collect "clues" by completing a certain number of plays. After obtaining "clues," you can spend a specified amount of Astral Melody and several thousand Energy (costs increase further in). Among several designated songs,Many of which are paid songs, playable for freeselect one to play at any regular difficulty; passing completes the "clue" collection. After collecting all "clues" for a song, spending a certain amount of Astral Melody or Dark Matter unlocks the song. After unlocking, the song title, composer, and the composer's comments about the song are displayed normally.
As songs are unlocked, the game's story also progresses sequentially. Upon completing a chapter's story, the song pack named after that chapter is automatically unlocked.
Stage Mode (Lana's Albumplay): Divided into Challenge Albums (dans) and Regular Albums, with each category further split into two-finger and multi-finger exclusive albums.
Challenge Albums (dans) initially unlock dans 1 through 8; subsequent dans require clearing the previous one. Completing dans rewards large amounts of Dark Matter and Star Fragments.
Regular Albums contain albums of different difficulties, chart styles, song themes, pack/membership exclusives, and event-limited albums. Rewards vary by album.
Game Difficulty
The game has 9 different difficulties, divided into regular and special difficulties.
Regular Difficulties: Chart difficulties that every song is guaranteed to have[9]. These are Normal, Hard, Hard+, S·Hard, and S·Hard+. Normal, Hard, and Hard+ are two-finger difficulties; S·Hard and S·Hard+ are multi-finger difficulties. Each difficulty has a corresponding difficulty range.
Regular difficulty ranges: Normal is 2-8, Hard is 4, 6-15, Hard+ is 9, 11-19, S·Hard is S4-S19, S21, S·Hard+ is S13-S14, S16-S24
Special Difficulties: Not every song necessarily has these. There are four types: Abyss, Chaos, COSMOS, and EXTRA. Abyss is a two-finger difficulty, unlocked by achieving A+ or higher on the corresponding song's Hard+ difficulty, and is slightly harder than Hard+. Chaos and COSMOS are multi-finger difficulties; Chaos requires A+ or higher on the corresponding song's S·Hard+ difficulty to unlock, and COSMOS requires S+ or higher on the corresponding song's S·Hard+ difficulty to unlock. EXTRA currently only appears in Lana's Albumplay mode and is not available in Free Play. Charts can be either two-finger or multi-finger. Chaos may be harder or easier than the original S·Hard+ chart, but COSMOS is absolutely harder than S·Hard+. If you lack the skill, you can also spend 350 Star Fragments to purchase a "Free Pass" to unlock all special difficulty charts at once (future new songs with special charts will also be automatically unlocked).
Special difficulty ranges: Abyss is 16-21+, Chaos is S18-S24, COSMOS is S22-S25+, EXTRA has no level rating and only displays a glitched image
But why is there 21+ but no 21, and S25+ but no S25?
Notes
The game system is a traditional 5K drop-style and contains only two types of notes.[10]
TAP: Tap the note when it reaches the judgment line. Additionally, sliding your finger from one lane to another can also catch TAP notes in the new lane.[11]
HOLD: Press down when the note reaches the judgment line; release after the note leaves the judgment line. Holding a HOLD note greatly increases COMBO, but when calculating accuracy and score, HOLD notes only count the beginning and ending as 2 notes. If the ending is released early, the judgment drops to GREAT+/GOOD+/MISS; releasing too late still counts as PERFECT. HOLD notes allow slightly late presses, but too late results in a direct MISS.
Play Modifiers
Various MODs can be enabled when playing songs.
Chart MODs
MIRROR: The chart is flipped horizontally.
RANDOM: The chart's five lanes are randomly shuffled.
Health Bar MODs
Normal Health Bar: The health bar starts at 0% and accumulates upward; if it exceeds 70% at the end of the song, the stage is cleared. The bar color is green.
RISK Health Bar: The health bar starts at 100%; each MISS reduces health by 15%, and the recovery rate is slower than the normal bar. If the bar reaches zero, gameplay ends immediately. The bar color is orange.
ALL COMBO Health Bar: If the player breaks their combo, gameplay ends immediately. The bar color is white-purple.It's basically just for aesthetics (since triggering health loss requires a miss, and one miss means instant failure)
ALL PERFECT Health Bar: If the player gets any non-PERFECT judgment, gameplay ends immediately. The bar color is pink-white.It's basically just for aesthetics (since triggering health loss requires a miss, and any non-PERFECT instantly ends the game)
Judgment MODs
LUNATIC (Blood Moon): Judgment windows are stricter, and the health bar color changes to a dark red to bright red gradient. Scores and accuracy under this MOD are calculated separately from normal mode.
Rating Apply: When the rating option is enabled, each game result is factored into the rating value. The rating result is calculated based on game performance and evaluated according to the game's level. If the calculated score is lower than the current rating, it will cause the rating to decrease. However, if accuracy is 99.5% or above, the rating will not decrease.
Judgment
The game has four different judgment grades and two judgment indicators.
PERFECT: Precisely hit. Scores 100 points per note in scoring mode.
GREAT: Slight deviation. Scores 80 points per note in scoring mode.
GOOD: Significant deviation. Scores 50 points per note in scoring mode.
MISS: Missed or hit with excessive timing deviation. Scores 0 points per miss in scoring mode.
+(PLUS): Equivalent to EARLY; during gameplay, when the judgment is GREAT/GOOD, a plus sign appears on the corresponding lane.
-(MINUS): Equivalent to LATE; during gameplay, when the judgment is GREAT/GOOD, a minus sign appears on the corresponding lane.
Accuracy at results is entirely determined by judgment grades. The accuracy formula is (AllNotes) ÷ Σ(Judge)[12], where AllNotes is the chart's note count (HOLD notes count as only 2 notes, so charts with long holds always have a Max Combo greater than the note count); for each note, the Judge multiplier is determined by the table below:
PERFECT
GREAT
GOOD
MISS
100%
80%
50%
0%
Results System
After each song ends, the results screen displays the number of Perfect, Great, Good, and Miss judgments, accuracy, clear type, and letter grade.
There are five clear types:
ALL PERFECT!: All judgments are PERFECT; all other judgment counts are 0.
ALL COMBO!: MISS count is 0, but not necessarily all judgments are PERFECT.
RISK CLEAR!: Using RK health bar with health above 0%.
CLEAR!: Using normal health bar with health above 70%.
FAIL/GAME OVER: Using normal health bar with health below 70%, or failing mid-game with a non-normal health bar. Regardless of accuracy, the letter grade is uniformly F, and the score is not saved or uploaded to the server.
The final letter grade at results and accuracymay be linked to the health bar. The grade tiers are as follows:
F: 0.00%-69.99% or using normal health bar with health below 70%

Game Currency
After the 3rd anniversary update introducing Gacha, all characters, character skins, and nearly all cosmetics are now obtained through gacha and gacha-exclusive special currency (and rarely through Performer Level). Strikethrough text indicates channels available before the 3rd anniversary.
The game has six permanent currencies:
Energy: A common currency obtainable through playing songs, gacha, Performer Level, and season pass events. Used forunlocking certain song packs in the shop, exchanging for Ocean play skinthe Energy Shop, completing Laboratory task branches (submitted as a cost for completing 1/5 tasks)
Dark Matter: Obtainable through playing songs, Performer Level, completing daily missions, watching ads (limited to 3 times daily, 30 per view), season pass events, and Energy exchange;can be obtained in larger amounts in Dark Area mode. Used in the shop to exchange for Phigros play skin or permanent character art, completing Laboratory task branches (submitted as a cost for completing 1/5 tasks), completing Laboratory final tasks, skipping Laboratory tasks (Aste's Help), completing NOAH mode chapter branches (1/5), promoting character tiers, and gacha. Can also be obtained in bulk by spending Star Fragments; in the shop's Dark Matter section, 1,100 Dark Matter can be purchased at once for 500 Star Fragments+5,000 Energy。
Star Fragments: Premium (paid) currencySimilar to Originite Prime, aside from randomly receiving 1-10 from watching ads (limited to 1 per day), Lana's Albumplay, receiving 10 for completing 25 daily missions per week, exchanging 10 for 100,000 Energy per week, and occasional giveaways[13]otherwiseLooks like a lot is given but it actually requires serious grinding, must be obtained through in-app purchases. Used for purchasing paid song packs and individual songs, play skins, character artas well as season pass experience, Dark Matter, and gacha (does anyone actually spend Star Fragments this way?)。
Astral Melody: Added in the 1st anniversary update; used for unlocking NOAH mode story and included songs,Dark Area modenow used for Dark Moon mode play, as well as Astral Boost (used in Free Play, Ad Play, and Dark Moon; spending different amounts of Astral Melody provides different multiplier bonuses to Energy, Dark Matter, season pass progress, and Darkmoon Coins at results). Cap is 200. When below 200, regenerates at a rate of 1 per 4.5 minutes. Can be obtained through gacha, watching ads (limited to 5 times daily, 60 per view), spending 100 Dark Matter for 100 instantly,or 100 Star Fragments for 200 (even worse value than exchanging for Dark Matter or gacha)and 1 Music Box (obtained from season pass events and Performer Level) for 100.
Starbit: Added in the 3rd anniversary update. Obtained through gacha duplicates of cosmetics (3 from purple cards and 5 from gold cards in Basic Gacha), spending 100 Dark Matter or 1 blue ticket (obtained from season pass events) for 1 pull in Basic Gacha (ten-pulls available, but rates are unchanged), or event Starbits converted 1:1 via mail after events end. Can be exchanged for cosmetics, Star Fragments,100 Starbits for 10 Star Fragments, what a Star Fragment bargain、Dark Matter (exchanging for myself at a loss), Energy, and Music Boxes。
Stardust: Added in the 3rd anniversary update. Obtained through gacha duplicates of characters, spending 100 Star Fragments or 1 gold ticket (obtained from season pass or limited events) for 1 pull in Premium Gacha (ten-pulls available, but rates are unchanged), or event Stardust converted 1:1 via mail after events end. Can be exchanged for characters (50) and character skins (100; limited event animated skins require 200 event Stardust). Can also be converted 1:1 to Starbits (great, now Star Fragments are worth even less than Dark Matter again)
Additionally, during different events, there are limited-time special currencies:
Winter Fragment: A limited currency from the 2021 Christmas event (2021/12/24-2022/01/06), commonly called Snow. Obtainable from daily missions, weekly missions, or purchased with Star Fragments.[14]Can be exchanged in the Christmas Shop for Christmas-exclusive accessories, backgrounds, Energy, and Dark Matter. After redeeming all three limited accessories, an official limited title reward (Merry Christmas written in red, white, and green) is sent within hours.
Event Starbit: Only obtainable from duplicate cosmetics in limited-time Event Gacha; used to exchange for limited cosmetics.
Event Stardust: Obtained through gacha duplicates of characters, spending 100 Star Fragments or 1 gold ticket (obtained from season pass or limited events) for 1 pull in Event Gacha (ten-pulls available, but rates are unchanged); used to exchange for limited character skinsor converted into gold tickets to keep pulling, but limited to 10, and can also be converted 1:1 to Event Starbits.
Season Pass and Membership System
Season Pass: The game's seasonal system; playing songs accumulates season points and earns rewards. The final reward of each season is a season pass song. Divided into Free Pass and Premium Pass. The former's rewards are available to all players; the latter's rewards require purchasing the Premium Pass.

On April 1, 2022, KALPA released an April Fools' song packFools' Day , and the UI underwent the following changes
April Fools' Edition UI
Specific content includes: the results screen partner being knocked away by deer in various poses, a pre-play warning[16], joke song illustrations, April Fools' prank charts, and joke difficulty ratings[17]。
April Fools' songs are basically composed of snippets from original songs,[18]original versions, in-game BGM, and songs that are included but not yet implemented.
Playing Dark Area mode may trigger Super Cosmos charts; the difficulty still counts as COSMOS Lv.!, but the actual difficulty far exceeds the original COSMOS difficulty.[19])。
↑Because you can't place 1st, 2nd, 3rd, AND 4th in the same Dark Area tournament
↑Long versions of original short tracks included in Dark Extension packs (e.g., "ARESI (Original Mix)") are exceptions; they only have Hard+ and S·Hard+ difficulties.
↑Even with simple note types, difficult charts can still be created
↑However, since the moment you slide to another lane counts as pressing down, players pursuing accuracy need to precisely control their sliding speed
↑There is an achievement that displays "???" when unachieved; it actually requires the player to fail and retry a song 50 times (failing due to special health bars depleting mid-song also counts). Upon completion, the reward is 44 Star Fragments.
↑During the period of 2021/12/24-2022/01/06, completing each daily mission earned 10 Snow, and each weekly mission earned 50 Snow; 50 Snow could be purchased for 100 Star Fragments
↑ 15.015.1This dan has no health bar and uses a special battle gauge
↑Warning popup content: !!! Wild Deer Spotted !!! What will the player do? Then there's a "FIGHT!" (confirm) button in the middle and a "...RUN" (cancel) button in the lower right. Pressing confirm enters the April Fools' chart, but it's randomly selected
